was the compressor running? if the unit fails to make temp at a given setting and the compressor is running then turning down the cold control will not make it colder. the thermostat is a switch that turns the compressor and fans (if you have fans) on and off. the different settings only change at what temp the compressor etc. turns off. make sense? so listen for that compressor if it is running and the unit is war you have refrigeration system trouble: restriction, low charge, leak, etc...

Could you please recheck for the model number. R134A is a reference to the coolant used in the freezer mechanism. Orange is often a reference to the 'Fast Freeze' function being turned On. Green is showing the freezer unit is at the correct temperature. Red is warning the freezer is Too warm. Some freezers are fitted with an 'Economy' function where the freezer can be run at a lower power level when not used regularly such as when on holiday.

(easiest & cheapest to check first) MUCH Easier to test the idea than you would imagine: - Shut OFF your main breaker. - Open your panel & swap the wire with an EQUAL breaker - Tag the wires (to restore when finished trouble shooting) - Restore the main breaker (wait & see)... and don't forget to clean that CONDENSOR per owner manual instructions. I would check the thermostat, and check for loss of gas.

Sounds like a stopped up defrost drain.

Check with Hotpoint / GE and inform them of your concerns.

Check to see if the condenser coil needs to be cleaned. And make sure the condenser fan is running Always disconnect power before attempting to repair any electrical appliance

the flashing maybe door is not sealing check gaskets on door for folds or tears or door not aligned right
