Drivers Handycam DCR TRV22e

The USB streaming driver for the Camcorder is not available for Windows Vista OS from Sony at this point. Hence it is not possible to transfer videos using USB interface. You may use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer which is running on Windows Vista Operating System.

Please follow the steps to transfer video to a computer using an i.LINK connection (IEEE 1394).

IMPORTANT: Video capture software and a compatible video capture card must be installed on the computer. Depending on the computer manufacturer, various video capture cards and software (Adobe Premiere, Roxio Video Wave, Microsoft Windows Movie Maker, etc.) may be available or already installed on your computer. If necessary, contact the manufacturer of your computer for further information.

NOTE: Many Sony VAIO computers are bundled with Sony DVgate Motion or DVgate Plus software for video capturing. Some VAIO computers also include Click To DVD software that will allow video capture to the computer hard drive or directly to a DVD.

  1. Connect an i.LINK cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.
  2. i.LINK Cable.
  3. clip_image001.jpg

    i.LINK port.

    clip_image002.jpg

    1. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.

NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cards may have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINK ports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it will be necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.

    1. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
    2. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
    5. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
    6. Begin importing the video with the capture software.

It should now be possible to copy the video using the video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configured correctly.

Where i get cable to

You can get these cables at electronics stores like Radio Shack or online from sites like Amazon.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Firewire-Cable-IEEE-1394-1-8M/dp/B000747OIK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1307019621&sr=8-4
Be sure to get the proper cable as they come in 4-pin to 4-pin or 4-pin to 6-pin. Check the ports on the dell for 4 or 6 pin.

I'm not able to install

Hi,

The DCR-TRV22E Camcorder can be connected to the Macintosh Computer with the i.LINK (Firewire) cable. The Software supplied with the Camcorder is not compatible with the Macintosh Computer. Instead you've to use the Firewire cable for connecting the Camcorder to the Computer. You can use the iMovie Software for transferring the videos. You do not require any drivers from Sony, to transfer the video via i.LINK.
You require to purchase either a 4 - pin to 4 - pin or a 4 - pin to 6 - pin i.LINK / Firewire cable depending on the number of pins on the i.LINK / Firewire port of your computer (since Camcorder will have only 4PIN i-LINK, while the Computer may have a 4PIN or 6 PIN i.LINK port).

Thanks for using FixYa.
We wish you a happy Christmas and NewYear!!

Usb driver problem

the fault lies with the company for not creating vista drivers.

but calm down, dude. Is there something wrong with using XP? everyone knows vista is rife with driver issues, surely you didn't ENTIRELY expect something made for XP would definitely work on Vista? That's just a bit naive.

I think the issue here ("I am having problems with the compatability with my sony handicam dcr-30 and windows vista.") is in attempt to acquire drivers or workarounds for the problem.

I myself have a slightly different model, but have heard that using a firewire cable, in conjunction with a mysterious 'work in XP mode' function hidden somewhere in Vista (Ultimate?) has proved to be a success with some Sony Handycams.

This is the sort of thing we're meant to be talking about here, and nobody's gonna benefit from merely bashing the reputation of the company responsible, no matter how frustrating it may be.
