Check the controls on the game's control section. If you play another game that uses the right analog control and it works on that game then it's the control set up for FIFA. Make sure that the analog control light is on when the game boots up. Sometimes if the analog control light is not on when you turn the game on and you turn it on afterwards, the analog stick controls don't work properly. That happened to me on NFS Pro Street. If yes: Buy another copy of Fifa
If no: You may want to disassemble the remote or just buy a new one

I know the answer. I had the exact same problem, D-pad keys no working along with L1 & L2. Reason of problem: there is a circuit made of carbon on a plastic sheet under the keys (once you open the controller that is..) that circuit is severed somewhere near the D-pad keys because it gets worn off by pressing the keys. Solution: I had some "wire glue" and reconnected the circuit with it and now all keys are working! Here is a picture for you to see what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/bL7THqU.jpg It's difficult one but doable.. Something so little spoils the whole controller!!

what you can do is open the controller clean the board by using cotton buds with alcohol or cleaner you will notice accumulated dust preventing the buttons from touching the board you need to remove those.

yea im having the problem too but i noticed if you shake the wire then it might work sometime but im am going to get a wireless controller because this is the sixth wire controller that broke(i broke most of them myself:)) but i suggest you also do so.

hey it is due to the model of your ps2 and your game is PAL and your TV is NTSC or the other way then it would give you black and white screen.the model of ps2 is written on its back side if both your tv set and game and ps2 are pal then there might be a problem with your ps2 av cable or ps2 itself

firstly no matter what you read anywhere , do not open it , for two main reasons, firstly; because it's hard to put it back the way it was secondly; because after you open it it will seem like there is nothing wrong with it, and you'll just end up making it worse.sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I would suggest buying a new controller if you want to skip the hassle of trying to fix this one, but if you insist on keeping this controller, then there could be a way to fix it. First try your best to smoothly trace the joystick around in a circle, and see if that unsticks it. If this doesn't work, apart from buying a new controller the only other thing to do would be to open the controller up and put lubricant on the bottom of the joystick, this will most likely work, but you might damage your controller in the process.

you will need a rubber replacement for your R1 button, if you or a friend have a defective joystick consider that a replacement. if you can't find a defective joystick you can buy a ps2 rubber kit online. below are reference pics.




1. Remove 5 screws with a philip screw at the back of the joystick.
2. Split the two covers with caution.ck
3. Carefully remove the rubber beneath the R1 button and replace it with a new one.
4. Put together the front and back part of the joystick.
5. Test the replaced part and screw if you're satisfied.

That's probably the issue. If it isn't even being detected then 9 times out of 10 it is a broken or unseated wire. You can pick them up at used gaming stores for $5 though. Hope that helps.

As far i know, that is not possible to splice a PS2 controller with an XBOX. As you said they have different wiring sets, so I highly doubt it will work.

Well, there might be several things wrong with your controller. Now, that being said the most likely thing wrong with it is the connectivity. Feel free to just stop reading if any of these steps fix your problem
1. Check that the cord is properly plugged in to the correct port.
2. Take the cord out of your PS2 and check all the connectors (they look like brass strips on the inside of the plug). Are they bent? dirty? do some appear to be missing?
3. If yes, try cleaning with a can of compressed air, then plug back in.
4. Reboot your PS2 then re-plug it in.
5. If none of these things work, or if the light in the center isn't on, then your best bet is to take the controller back to the place of purchase and ask for a refund.

Hello. Games have no effect on a controller but it could either be you're system or controller itself. Either buy a new system or controller. Good luck!

If you purchased new or received as a gift, take it back and exchange. Many stores will trade 1 for 1 even without receipt, but no refund without one. Try Walmart or Target. Call ahead if you're unsure. Sooner is better though.

Dualshock and Dualshock 2 uses this for powering vibro-motors. Voltage on PS2 is 7.6V, however many sites says it's 9V. But it will work on 9V too.
