Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya!
It sounds as if the return air ducts have frozen over.  the square holes your talking about are returns. so lets follow these instructions for cleaning the drain and while your at it you can def the return air at the same time.
  • Unplug refrigerator
  • unload food from freezer
  • remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
  • remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
  • move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
  • defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
  • flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
  • reassemble in reverse order
After doing this let me know how it turns out. Your drain may not be plugged but these instructions will get you to the returns and cleaning the drain will save you problems later on as well. Peyton

check the relay on compressor (inside black box)

Your defrost drain hole is frozen over. It must be thawed out.
You can turn the fridge off and let it sit off for 2 days and it will thaw. Or, you can disassemble the freezer panels and use a hair dryer to defrost the drain line at the rear of the freezer compartment. Takes about 2 hours.

Drain hole is plugged, I pulled up the plastic cover in the bottom of the freezer [Held in place by 2 screws]. Removed Ice maker [4 screws. 2 Up top and two on bottom]. Unhooked power to ice maker by removing plastic cover. Removed back panel [2 screws. 1 left and 1 right of fan]. Used a combination of boiling water and hair dryer to unclog hole that had iced over. Reassembled.

This is a compressor issue. Its probably done.

yes the "relay" on your unit has burnt out. if you shake it and pepper looking pieces come out of it that will verify that you need to replace the relay.
nice work finding the exact problem by yourself and now all you have to do is buy a relay and plug it in to get things back to normal.
also be sure to clean the coils under the unit as when the compressor gets too hot it will cause the relay to fail. it is very common and you can fix this yourself.

its the compressor relay thats clicking[its a little unit connected to compressor with at least two wires]it could be that its [relay]going bad or the compressor could be failing, but it dose cool once it gets started so thats a good sign.the relay has two parts.one an over load, thats like a curcit breaker,it cuts power to compressor if its drawing to much amparage.the other part is a swith that goes fro start winding to run winding.as a repairman i would pull relay and use volt meter to check winds before replacing relay.its been alittle while but depending on age of refer, start winding around 2.7+-.5run winding 1.1 +- .5 new box use less energy so lower resistance older higher.hope that gives you a start ps fan goes off on because its starts with compressor.God bless ,tom

Things to check

Check freezer...

for Frost build up and if Fan is blowing,

Check condenser...

To make sure clean, and the fan is blowing by compressor,

Check Recirclating Vents in refrigerator... to make sure theres no blockage,

CONTROLS ...should be in the middle setting,

How long did you wait after installing the fan? It takes 24 hours for the unit to recuperate.
If the fan hasn't been working for a long time, you may have not noticed it was running a lot, but with the new fan you can hear it. Let me know if you don't think this is the case and I can guide you through some other options.

Have you ever cleaned the coil under the refrigerator? If the coil is very dirty the compressor will run very hot and when it finaly shuts off its banging is a sigh of relief. Pull the bottom panel off and vacuum inside as far as u can reach. They also sell brushes for cleaning them.

Fixing...first, I assume that the light is on inside. If so, is the compressor working?...that's a mechanical noise from the bottom of the unit. If you don't hear it, it can be a number of things. If you do hear it, does it work for just a brief period and then click off? Unplug the unit, wait 10 minutes and then plug back in. Then listen for the above click-off. How is the thermostat set? Is it in the normal range? Once you go through these checks, we can see if the problem is among the symptoms outlined or something else.
