20 Most Recent Canon CanoScan D660U Flatbed Scanner Questions & Answers

The answere for me so far has been no. However I was successful with scanning in three documents for tennis scores today by installing the XP twain driver in MS Virtual PC in XP mode this installed all the drivers. But after the scanner powered down after timing out, nothing in my power could get it to work again for another document. To say the least I'm pretty Pissed about the whole thing. Knowing that as purchasers of these products were just left in the learch for upgrading to the latest version of windows and the manufacturer of the products can't be stuffed developing drivers for their products. Says a lot about Canon and their dodgy products and customer focus. Screw you Canon, I won't be buying your products again. Go with the times or get left behind!

I have many years experience with repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.

You can google Canon and locate a local dealer in your area to purchase a replacement power lead or you can go on Ebay and purchase one on there and it will probably be cheaper on Ebay then from a canon dealer.

Vous pouvez essayer d´ínstaller le programme "vuescan". Ce programme fonctionne avec mon vieux scanner. C´est un probléme trés important puis Vista est incompattible avec nombreux scanners.

You need to install the application software .just install the cd which come along with the scanner it contains the driver as well as the scanning software just install it .then you will be able to use the scanner button .

You can find the driver at canon website but you can also find the driver at www.driverguide.com you do have to register with them to get the driver but its well worth the time spent. Also Canon would have the driver at www.canon.com since I am international I do not have the direct link but those two websites will find you a solution to your issue. Now Vista is sorta new and this flatbed has been around you might need to install a NT driver witch is fine..

CanoScan D 660u will not work with a 64bit operating system.
NOTE, vista 64bit drivers will work in windows 7 64bit. but canoscan D 660u only has 32bit drivers AVAILABLE.

At this time it seems that you will not be able to use canoscan d 660U AT ALL with your windows 7 computer - if it does not work just after plugging it in.


Casio CW 75 has vista mentioned on supported windows versions, but no mention of 64bit. it may or may not work.


As for the Aculaser c1100 it should work with vistas build in drivers, so it should work with windows 7 as well just plug it in.


IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT NONE OF THESE DEVICES WILL WORK WITH WINDOWS 7 DUE TO NO 64BIT DRIVERS RELEASED BY THE MANUFACTURERS.

If you must use these devices, please downgrade to windows xp or windows vista 32bit. or look at buying new devices with windows 7 support.

You would have probably been better off not upgrading to windows 7 with these devices.

This appears to be a software problem. Run Scandisk/chkdsk on your Computer. Uninstall the driver software, switch off the computer & Reinstall the driver software and try.

You need a film adapter plate and the software downloadable from Canon free.

If the light is not illuminating when positioning the lamp and the scan button turns grey (inoperative) the light source has probably failed in the cover. It is integral with the cover. Costs about $160 AUD to replace.
