Its GRand Unified Bootloader used in Linux OS. Normally you get this error when GRUB is not able recognise the partition from which you are trying to boot the system. Make sure the boot partition on your system is recognisable by GRUB (such as EXT3).
You can try to restore the GRUB using the LIVE CD
Boot From Live CD
Open Terminal Window
type >sudo grub
then type : find /boot/grub/stage1
you'll get something like: (hd0, 1)
then type : >root (hd0, 1)
type: > setup (hd0)
>quit
>exit
Remove the Live CD and reboot the system.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Such lines are generally caused if the screen makes a hard contact i.e. collides with something. Also don't smash the screen onto the laptop when you close it. Such repairs are generally done by the concerned PC companies directly. They may ask you to change whole screen.
If there is no power going to the laptop then disconnect battery and hold the reset button in for 30 seconds, then try it again. Sometimes the memory can be damaged which can cause the laptop not to boot..?
Check the ac adapter is the proper one for that laptop.
Check the power jack is not damaged or loose.
let laptop site without battery or power for a few hours.
remove battery and retry power.
try another ac adapter
if that doesn't work, you may have a reset button but not likely to solve the problem.
sounds like motherboard is damaged, or something blew.

Sounds like you Graphics adapter is on it's way out. Does it do the same if you connect to a External Monitor? Is the Laptop overheating due to dust in the fan, vents, heatsink or poor air flow?
