Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Screen reads no cartridge when
This is a pretty common item, usually for HP printers however I've also seen this with non-HP printers. They REALLY want you to use genuine HP or Dell ink/toner in their printers since they make lots of money on consumables. That being the case, there is a chip on most original (OEM) toner cartridges that tells the printer that its a genuine cartridge. If you purchase aftermarket/remanufactured/3rd party toner to save a few dollars, they frequently don't have these chips, however other than that they work just fine.
If you have purchased a Staples/Office Max or some other non Dell branded toner, that's likely what happened. My suggestion is to live with this minor annoyance and just wait until the print begins to get lighter in color. THAT will be your indication that its about time to change the toner.
If you get this same issue with a new Dell branded toner, then you may want to try to find this chip and use a pencil eraser to carefully clean the electrical contacts on the toner cartridge. That may help the printer read the cartridge chip easier.
Hope this helps! Best of luck!
I have a dell 1600n printer. Though it prints but
1) Remove the label completely from the scanner module by gently pulling it. The scan
unlock switch automatically moves FORWARD to the unlock position.
2) NOTE: When you are moving the multi-function printer or do not intend to use it for a long period of time, move the switch BACKWARD to the lock position. To scan or copy a document, the switch must be unlocked.

It won't turn on.
It sounds to me like your power supply went out? I hope this helps !
My 1600n printer is taking much longer to warm up
My friend, this is typical of everything as it ages ... including me and probably you.
Electrically, as components age (read deteriorate), their value changes slightly. Also, as the hardworking components heat and cool day in and day out, year after year ... that adds to the change in electrical value. When this happens, power doesn't flow through the system when everything was shiny and new.
If the delay is a problem, you could 'wake' your printer earlier in the morning.
The next time you have this printer serviced, you might make inquiry of the technician as to whether he or she can make adjustments to the printer to increase its performance. BTW - as yo increase the voltage in a given circuit, you hasten its ultimate demise. More heat, more stress and so forth.

I can't print envelopes from
Hi terrizaccari,
The reason why you can't print from your apple to the
Dell 1600n printer is because of
missing driver. The easiest way to correct this problem is by installing a compatible printer driver. Please be informed that
Dell does not have a
Dell 1600n driver that is compatible with Mac. However, you can still use a
Generic PCL 6 driver. There are
generic PCL 6 drivers found in the
Gutenprint drivers which may already be installed on your computer. You can also download them from this
link.
If this doesn't work, try to use the
Xerox WorkCentre PE 120i installer. Perhaps it will work for you as well. Here is the link:

Thank you for using FixYa.
What does pc print pending mean?
It depends. Is that being displayed on your monitor or printer? If it is being displayed on your monitor there is a problem with the connection to your printer. Ensure that you have the correct printer selected when printing and that the cable is properly connected. If that is not the issue, then I do not know.

I have black streaks on my 1600n prints. I have
Dirty
print out is basically due to cartridge related issues. Take out the
cartridge and clean its drum/ (green roller) with a dry, soft,
lint-free cloth. The drum is usually located under a cover. Checkout for
any spilled toner inside the printer and clean it also. Print a few
pages so that the parts get further cleaned. I think, this would solve
the issue.
Moreover, black streaks
(thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located
behind the
green drum inside the cartridge. Cartridge or get
the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Let me know if any
further clarification is required.
GoodLuck!
Dont forget to
appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!
