How do i use my wireless ethernet?
If you are in a network, you need to have a thing called IP address which is usually assigned by a DHCP server or a wireless access point. If DHCP Server is not available in your case then you need to configure evreything manually. If DHCP server is available then you don't need to configure anything.Just search for the WI_FI signal and connect with it.
For manually configuring Wireless Network Setting
Go to control panel and click "network and Sharing Center", click Change Adapter settings" Right Click on the wireless adapter, Select "properties", click on "Internet Protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4)".
Select now use the followinf IP address,
Manually fill the IP address :
Subnet mask :
Default Gateway:
Select "Use the following DNS address "
Manually fill Preferred DNS address:
Alternate DNS address:
For example : IP address : 192.168.0.10
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :192.168.0 1
Preferred DNS address :218.248.234.117
Alternate DNS address :218.248.136.142
IP address is needed for communications between devices.
subnet mask is needed for identifying your Network Address Node.
Default Gateway is usually your Router or Wi-Fi access point IP Address.
DNS address for resolving domain name(mostly for Internet browsing)
Hope you can connect it now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.
My resolution messed up!
Hi,
Please ensure that your Video /VGA/ graphics driver is installed.
I recommend you to uninstall the VGA graphics driver and use the motherboard driver cd which provided along with your laptop to reinstall the drivers back. Then the problem with your display should be fixed.
If you are not having driver cd, then download your driver from manufacturers website for your exact model.
I hope this information is helpful for you.
Please rate the solution provided.
Thanks
Where is the wireless switch located?
Try to examine your laptop keyboard.
- Look for a Function Key (F1 ... F12) with the wifi icon below it usually printed in orange or blue.
- Now press and hold the Fn key and press that function key with the wifi icon.
- That softly turns your wifi ON.

How to replace a DVD drive?
Turn the laptop upside down. take out the battery and the pwoer cable from the back and you might need a philips screw driver handy. you would see a hole and a lock image under the laptop.
as shown in the image open the screw and then use the flat head screw driver and pop the drive out of the computer. and undo the same steps to pop the other one back in.
There is no sound coming from my gateway 4525gz
Reinstall the audio drivers from the manufacturers CD. If you didnt get one ,download the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. Restart the system after installation. That would make it run.
PS: confirm with the dealer wether you have a sound card or not.

Operating system & harddrive not found
Did you remember to enter the BIOS setup and change the boot drive so the system would look to the (optical) drive in which you have put your XP disk?
In most cases, you must tell the system where to look for boot files and with a new hard drive, there are no files to find.
If you don't have any malware defense installed yet, and can again get it up and running enough to go on line, I would recommend all of the following:
- AVG Free
Grisoft Home Page
- Spybot S&D
Spybot Home page
- AdAware
Lavasoft Home Page
Basic versions are either free or ask for donations.
I have a Gateway LP2417 monitor and there's No sound.Hoe do I fix it,so I can hear the video that is playing?
This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor.
The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) VGA and DVI connections don't support audio so I assume you are using the HDMI port.
I hope this helps.
