My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.
When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.
There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.
Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.
If your machine requires maintenance it will often kick itself offline. there is a simple fix by changing some port settings.
Sharp Printer Offline Solution
If you have the internal finisher that resides in the center of the machine: open the slotted front cover, it folds down towards the ground, then push the green lever sideways to slide the finisher out to the left. Look inside the open area for a green item, push down to eject the cartridge. Pinch the clear cartridge on the arrow to eject the clear part, replace with a full cartridge and reassemble in reverse order. How to replace staples on Sharp printer internal finisher

Remove the curl out of the paper by running 6" across the edge of a desk against the curl. With scissors, cut the end 1/2" straight. Then cut a 1/2" off both corners at 45 degrees. Push the paper in the slot and press the Feed Button.

Just replace toner cartridge or refill the toner container with refillable sharp ar202 refill bottle or sachet. Remember to remove waste toner if you are refilling, right.
Check the Remote: Make sure you have the remote control for the projector.
Press the Menu Button: On the remote, press the "Menu" button.
Navigate to Security or System Lock: Use the arrow keys on the remote to navigate through the menu options. Look for a section related to "Security" or "System Lock."
Enter the Unlock Code: If you previously set a system lock code, you will need to enter it using the remote control. If you haven't set a code before, try the default code (often 0000 or 1234).
Disable System Lock: Once you've entered the correct code, navigate to the option to disable or unlock the system lock.
Confirm: Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your choice, and the system lock should be disabled.
