My camera doesn't recognize the memory card
The problem may be simpler to solve. Perhaps you never normally change the setting from iA (intelligent auto), but the wheel with settings can get moved by accident. If it goes around one place counter-clockwise, it puts it onto the built-in memory, it seems. I had the same problem, and it frustrated me for months!
Camera lens will not retract
Lens errors (system errors on Panasonics) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:
What is the largest memory card I can use with
The problem is that your camera is only compatible with SD cards, not
SDHC cards. You bought a larger card for your older camera, not
noticing that it was SDHC (or not knowing that it mattered). The new
card doesn't work, not because it or the camera is broken, but because
it's not compatible.
Cards up to 2Gb are generally SD.
Cards of 4Gb are generally SDHC.
Cards over 8Gb have to be SDHC.
(There are exceptions. Sometimes, manufacturers make 4Gb SDHC
cards but some have errors; they disable half of the chip and sell it
as 2Gb, but it's still SDHC. 4Gb cards are almost always SDHC because
they're cheaper, but 4Gb SD cards do exist. They are so rare that I've
even seen a guru on this site claim they don't. I did own one once, but
it was very expensive and turned out to be so unreliable that I had to
return it. I don't recommend looking for one, because of the problems.)
Your solution is to go find a 2Gb card, and be extra sure that it doesn't say "SDHC" on it.
Replaced batteries, when turning on
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need

System eror
Hi,
This error usually comes due to faulty sliding mechanism.Put a bit of force on the focusing lens to push it back into camera casing. That's the reason the sliding mechanism won't work. The lens is stuck and if you force it back in, the sliding mechanism will work again. Not responsible if your camera screws up, so try at your own risk.Or else try out this method.Pull the lens fully out and then it will work.It will be bit tricky to get the lens out. Use your nail to "grab" between the outer glass and the little plastic cover.
Thank you !!
