there is no (consumer) known way for you to do this on your own. Pay the 25 bucks and send it in so they can do it. Press the slider switch down to lock and press up and hold a few seconds to turn on (and unlock).

That is a glitch in the firmware, nothing you can do about it except remove files. You can flash RockBox firmware on it and that'll fix the problem.
