is the access point WEP enabled? or is it public? as long as you are able to detect the access point, try and edit your profile to which you can connect.
if it is a WEP enabled access point, you should have a passphrase key to access it.

How to Fix Linksys Router Error 2118?
This seems to be a symptom of a configuration error, which can be fixed by resetting the router to factory default. Do this by finding the (often partially hidden) reset button on the device, and pressing and holding down the button, with the power on, till lights start flashing on the router. Let go of the button and allow the router to reset (can take a minute or two). You will now have reset the router to factory default. To connect to your ISP, you'll need to enter your account details (and any other specific information) provided to you by your ISP. You will also have to set a name and password for the wifi section of your router (if it has wifi) if you don't want it to be freely accessible by everyone within wifi range.
