Asus WL-520GC cant configure

Reset the router to factory settings. There should be a reset button the back; unplug it, hold that down for a minute, then plug back in and follow the original directions to get to the administrative site.

WL-520GC

You need to enter the Router's Menu. Its web Based you can type http://192.168.1.1 from your web browser to get into your Router's Menu. It might come up with Username and password request put "admin" for both of them (its default).Since the Menu is very easy to understand you will find all settings including security that you needed. Make sure your laptop had DHCP enabled and Router connected to computer.

Good Luck

Unable to input a HYPHEN in portrange

With this particular router you will need to treat the port range field as the port field. You will just have to forward single ports at a time. Which will be fine. In case you need more reference see the link below.

Hope this helps!

Lost setup disk

Here's the manuals for your router, you can find instructions in the Quick Guides in there:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=WL-520g

Here's a direct link to the quick guide manual, there's a lot of non-english versions on that site and it's a bit confusing to find the right file:

Install prob

I suspect these devices by default may be set to either the same IP address or exist on the same subnet. If you know how to configure the devices you can check. Possibly you can connect a computer to each (when not router and modem are not connected to each other) and issue use the open the DOS or command prompt type ipconfig and press enter to get the default gateway address for each device and report the contents back here. Otherwise you may need someone to lead you through those checks and reconfigure the devices as appropriate.

As a new owner of a wireless router you may also want to consider this as you are installing it.

Can't access router via 192.168.1.1

Hi Again

Answer is simple; network security (WEP or WPA) key is different than regular password. Entry should be Hexadecimal, However you can use pass phrase generator by entering regular characters or you can enter directly. For example if you we want to put to "password" as network key hexadecimal input will be exactly 2B204A3F1042643E480FDD655E for 128 Bit WEP. Since you are unable to reach the router. Please reset it first. so it will be accessible from your computer without Network key. Network key will be enough for the 1st line
Hope you will resolve the issue.

Good Luck

WL 520 GC can only acess net in "default" before encrypting

To enable WEP encryption requires configuration changes in two places the router (WL-520G) and for the network adapter on the associated with the computer expecting to use the wireless router. Do you both believe you made the appropriate changes to both devices required? The router and the computer

Another possible issue is either the router or the network adapter do not support WEP meaning the option is not possible at all.

Wl-520 gc

you must need to put in more than the ppoe connection type, there is the vpi =0, vci =38, then input your isp's username and password to get a connection.

All this must be done via the RJ45 cable and making sure that the pc's lan card is set to obtain an ip address automatically.

To get into the routers settings, type into your web browser either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.100, as i'm not sure that actuall routers address, sometims it's on the underneath or refer to the manual.

Connections

YES> If you will install a router into your network, it will share the internet conenction among the two computers. Both wireless and wired. So the connection will be from

Modem ----> Router (wireless/wired capable)   ------> PCs (two Pcs both the desktop and the laptop

and you can also add up another PC if you want to.

Linksys wireless card with ASUS WL520g Router - encryption error

you have changed the network key, but why update the username and password as it should always be the same which is the one supplied to you to connect to your service providers connection, assuming you mean the security key, go to your pc and search for your network again, as it will be trying to connect to a non existant unsecured router. When it searches and finds the networks in your area, choose yours click connect and the enter password window should pop up to be entered. Go to your browser and clear old temp files and cookies in tools, internet options, restart pc and you should assuming you have put the correct settings in be online.
