Why is it blinking "Def" and is at 66 degrees?

DEF means that the unit has gone into defrost automatically. When it does that the internal temperature will climb normally to a preset temperature set by the manufacturer.to deice the evaporator coil. When it says HI 66 the control board has a high temperature alarm which in this case it exceeded it and is telling you so. At this point I would say keep an eye on it, should you continue to have any problems then I would call a qualified service technician.

Water accumilates in bottom of refrig. The coils

Hi
It seems that the problem is with the drain that is plugged and you can remove the cover behind the shelves in the freezer section and use a hair dryer to met the ice away, also clear the hole with a hair dryer and then push a soft wire through the drain hose. After this is done check for any cracks and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Coil is freezing up in Delfield refrigerator

Usually this is caused from improper airflow. Check for build up of dust and dirt and/or a faulty fan that isn't spinning. Let me know what you find. You should defrost it first

How was this unit originally equipped? TXV? Use only a TXV OF CORRECT size. In refrigeration if you have a 6000btu rating you do not use a 1/2 ton valve you use a 1/4 ton (3000btuh) at most and would need consulting with an engineer to arrive at the correct valve.

SO was the TXV the other fellow replaced an OEM valve? If not this may be the problem as most TXV's off the shelf are designed for walk-in refrigeration Not Reach ins. An OEM valve may be the trouble here.

Now not to stress the TXV but also the compressor (what was the original model?) Make sure it is designed for the particular heat range and size for this application. As you probably know 1 size compressor designs for AC will not be OK on Refrigeration at same BTU rating.

Call Del field and verify what they are using or recommending for this unit. model and Seal no required and the existing model and SN.

Also to my knowledge a receiver is not required and in fact will only add to your trouble. Receivers are for changes (wide differences) in condensing temperature and pressure. Never saw an application for one with a condenser designed from factory for indoor use with either type of expansion device.

If you need Del fileds number email me at [email protected] and in th subject line enter delfield?.

Clean the condensor

You can clean the condenser while it is running or you can unplug unit . most of the time you can use a nylon brush to brush off the condenser. If it has not been cleaned in a while you may need some sort of compressed air to blow through it. If units are in restaurant and by fryers or have greasy buildup on them you will need to unplug unit and spray some degreaser on it then rinse with water. It is important to clean the condenser, the part with fins and is located by compressor, because a dirty condenser will shorten the life of the compressor.

Need to repair a pluged cappilary tube

Your best bet is to order an OEM capillary tube and replace it. Of course this requires recovering the refrigerant. The likelihood of unplugging one is very very slim unless it is a very large bore tube.

I just bought an used Delfield UC 4048-H, when I go to plug up, a breaker kicks in the house. I have tried multiple outlets, any help?

You most likely have a shorted refrigerant pump module.

Superheat subcooling

the model says that this is a cooler/freezer combination unit. super heat has to be measured on each section separately. As a general rule: Freezers run around 6-8 degrees and coolers are 8-10. I have seen freezers go as low as 4 degrees right before they hit set point temp and shut off.
