Nikon Coolpix S6100 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
I push the on/off button and the camera will not perform
Remove the battery. Wait a minute. Put the battery in and plug in the charger and connect it to the camera. If the power button glows and a green LED flashes it is taking a charge. Do not try to turn the camera on UNTIL you can get it to charge.
Digital zoom and micro focus won't work
Different scene modes allow for different functions. I rarely use them due to this. You have to set the scene mode to take a normal photo. Meaning in Fireworks scene mode you cannot take macro photos because the lens is focused to infinity already and is locked this way.
You also may have some problems with material in your lens. (I am not sure) If you get your scenes straightened out and it still does not work I would suggest searching for lens error and look for solutions there.
Charge light solid red
If you put a cool battery in a camera and the camera says it is too hot. you have a critical problem with either the battery or camera.
Why isn't touch screen working?
Normally touch screen failures are attributed to digitiser screen failure. LCD may be ok but digitiser has failed. Replace screen.
Why does my camera shut off when trying to transfer pics via USB?
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

What does write protected mean?
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
The flash mode won't high light so that I can have
It has the flash button right below the record button. Press it and you can turn the option on. Moreover, it will not work on a Fully Auto mode, because that is when the camera takes all the control.
