My laptop keeps turning off

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

If you are the original owner, Toshiba will unlock the bios code for a fee $100.00 a cheaper approach, go to www.ebay.com Type: bios password this will take you into a list of sellers to choose from, I suggest one that deals with Toshiba, "better chance of success"

My toshiba laptop turned off and wont turn back on. What do I do?

make sure the battery is connecting properly and has charge one bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

make sure the CPU central processing unit has thermal grease and a dust free secure seating

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

also check your computer ram and cmos battery to make sure they are securely seated and the battery has plenty of charge

some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

hope it helps

My Toshiba Satellite laptop keeps

The problem may be related to a capacitor called NEC/TOKIN Proadlizer which loses its capacitance with time and causes such issues when AC is plugged in. One needs to replace this cap as shown here: http://gs138.photobucket.com/groups/q251/S1BXDWUERU/

How to fix a keyboard on a laptop that is not

Toshiba keyboards are very easy to replace and they can be sourced easily from loads of suppliers. just browse the net and you will find them.
To fit, just turn it over and look for two screws usually in the centre of the machine. they will have a tiny picture of the keyboard next to them. Remove the screws. Turn the laptop back up the right way and the keyboard should just lift up. there will be a large flat ribbon cable holding it to the motherboard, (so don't pull on it as you will break the connector) unclip the connector and the cable will fall out.
To fit is just the reverse.

Good luck.

I have a Toshiba L505-ES5036

This is quite a tricky problem to fix unless you know what your doing. It sounds to me like an inverter problem. But it could be the LCD screen, the backlight bulb, or the motherboard. All can cause similar symptoms. Unless you want to try to change the inverter I found a website telling you how to: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-replace-LCD-screen-1.htm If you are not comfortable in doing so I recommend not to change it as you may cause an even worse problem - In which you may want to hand it in to a repair company and tell them that you may think the inverter is faulty. To prepare you you may have to buy a new inverter.
PCHELPSTER from youtube, all the best.

Why does my computer keep

It may shutdown when it gets too hot. Toshiba Satellite had some problems with this a few years back which involved a class action lawsuit. I had one of the computer that experienced problems and lost a lot of material which had not been backed up yet. I received compensation as part of the class. The lawsuit was settled, but I notice that the Satellite that I purchased since then will shut down automatically when it gets too warm. It helps to put it on a cooling device and I also turn on a regular fan and point it toward the computer when I can. If it is inconvenient to do any of this, I turn it off periodically to let it cool down. That way, I don't lose any data. Of course, I back up all data frequently.

I turn on the power

because it's old sorry. this is just the way of many laptops. the only "light" in the tunnel is that it may be repairable and it might even be relatively cheap ($100 U.S.) but you will have to check the yellow pages and/or the news paper etc to find the guys that do it because the big computer stores will charge you ALOT more. hope this helps and good luck:)

My laptop keep shuting off

Hello.

The most common reasons are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement, if a power issue.

If not a power issue, then either you have a memory issue or operating system problem.

First, disconnect all cables. Be certain to dispel static electricity by touching metal. Remove the cover. Try reseating (removing and reinserting) your memory (try one module at a time to test).

If still a problem, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.

To access System Restore in Windows 7: Open the Start Menu. Click on All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore

Hope this helps.

I cannot boot from the cd rom to do a fresh

Most computers need to have the boot order reset in the Bios to enable booting from cd. The following should be the correct way to access the Bios setup for this model.

Starting with the system powered off (not in sleep/suspend or hibernate mode)-Start with the system powered off. Press the power button and then immediately press and hold the Esc key while the system runs the POST (Power On Self Test). When the POST finishes, a prompt will appear telling you to press the F1 key to enter BIOS Setup. At that time, press the F1 key to access the BIOS Setup program.

Once in the Bios setup, change the boot order to boot first from cd, then save changes and exit. You should then be able to run the cd install.

My Tohsiba Sattilite keeps turning off too AND I

This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced.

My toshiba satellite A200 2BO

If none of this solves the problem, or is not the case, then you might have a bad motherboard.
