Whirlpool WTW4950XW Washer Questions & Answers
Filled but wont spin. brand new model wtw4950x
Sounds like a bad safety switch / lid switch. These new machines have magnetic proximity switches used on the lid to make sure the lid is closed before the machine will spin or cycle. Part is usually around 25.00 at appliance parts house for walk in customers. You would need someone familiar with electricity to replace it as it deals with 120 volts.

Whirlpool WTW4950XW Washer won't go past the sensing cycle.
It may be as simple as a defective door switch or even a clogged drain hose (the hose between the tub and drain pump. Here are some videos that may help you more than i can. This guy knows:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq7a3j7pFUM&playnext=1&list=PL5258B1D98A50745F

Wont drain and spin
Check door
switch: If the lid switch is bad it will
not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press
lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining.
Release switch. Motor should stop. Press
switch a second time. Washer should
start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid
switch is pressed, replace the switch.

What do I do when my Whirlpool dishwasher model #GU1500XTLQ3 overflows the air gap in the first two minutes of the "normal" cycle and water and runs all over the counter?
Sounds like the pressure switch is not cutting off.
(1) Check to make sure it isnt shorted out, sometimes these fall out of the bracket and fall against the frame and short out. It is the piece that has a 1/4"clear rubber hose attached to it.
(2) If everything passes the eye test then you may have a bad pressure switch. When the machine fills it slowly build pressure on the diaphram aka pressure switch and when it hits its set point it should open the switch and turn off the fill solenoid valve. The only way to check is with a multi meter. One wire on the switch should be live or have voltage and the other should be dead with no voltage. when full. During filling they would both be live.
(3) You may have trash in the fill solenoid or a sticking fill solenoid.
