Zebra 105SL Thermal Label Printer - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Media problem during printing
If the media is coimng out straight, then look at the cutter mounting.
If the cutter is slightly off angle then it can be corrected on the mounting beneath the right lower side, and the lft upper (head latch) side.
Try printing a barcode or straight line of print on the top and bottom of the label. Look at the print in relation to the cut.
If it is off , it may also be the printhead azimuth.(angle of the head in relation to the platen roller(roller beneath the head).
There is an adjustment fo tthe head to suare it up to the platen.
My Zebra Zm 400 keeps saying Pause Error Condition
make sure that the maximum lenght for the label is set to something greater than the physical length of the label. I was having this issue with a 4x3 label. As soon as I increased the maximum lenght to 5 inches it worked.
Printhead led light flashing
The sensor that senses the head in the closed position is most probably faulty. You will need to take it to a service entre for repairs.

Have you checked for minute folds in your ribbon? Once you get a fold in the ribbon, no matter how small, you may have to manually feed several feet of ribbon through to get rid of the ripple. We have had similar problems in the past with inexperienced operators installing new ribbons.

Please contact me if you have any question or if a board is needed. I have them in stock right now and can offer to do it on exchange for you bad one.
Please let me know.

How to check the MAC address of Zebra 105SL Printer
go to the configuration on the printer. Scroll through until you reach the network settings. You can display or print the results, which will show the MAC address. Also, if you have a PC on the same network, and you know the IP of the printer, you can look at your ARP tables and find the MAC associated with the IP. ARP -a at the dos prompt
Zebra 105SL label issues
I am surprised that you are using that sequence of buttons to solve this problem. I am pretty sure that they want you to go into the "Media Sensor Calibration" setup in the config menu. It is a bit more complicated than what you have described. I also believe that the size of the gap on two of your labels might be out of tolerance (they are usually 1/8" gaps between the labels). The black marks are a problem for the transmissive sensors. You may need to move the transmissive media gap sensor (remember it has two parts: upper and lower). I would usually setup mine for a place beyond the black mark so that you are looking at just the white paper.
To start out:
1. Load the backing of a 6" strip of media (no label attached).
2. Remove a ribbon (if you usually use one).
3. Close the printhead.
4. Press SETUP/EXIT and then NEXT/SAVE until "Media and Ribbon Calibrate" appears.
5. Press "+" to start the calibration procedure. You should see the "Load Backing" in the LCD Display. You already have the backing loaded so continue to the next step.
6. Press "+" to answer the message and the next screen should say, "Remove Ribbon". You have also removed the ribbon.
7. Press the "+" to continue. You should see the screen say, "Calibrating Please Wait". After the sensors are setup by the machine a new screen should appear, "Reload All".
8. Open the printhead, and move the labels until they are loaded correctly to print. Smooth out the ribbon and load it correctly.
9. Withe media and ribbon now loaded, press "+" to continue and the machine should say, "Media and Ribbon Calibrate".
10. Press the Setup/Exit button once. It should say, "Save Changes Permanent". Press Next/Save to finish the process.
11. Do a normal calibration of your stock and print a label.
You are done. The machine will run for the labels you have setup the sensors for. Unfortunately, you must do this for each of the media types. To automate this, you could run a Configuration listing, capture the settings you just created for each type of label. Take these to a programmer to have them send the setup to the machine before the job. This is beyond the scope of this type support to really help you.
Read and print .DAT files on labels
you must embed ZPL/CPCL or EPL command to your program..
or use Zebra Designer Pro then connect the .DAT file to it and design your sticker..

Zebra 105Se power on calibration
If this unit has the LCD screen you need to Press Setup. Then Press Next till you get to Media Power Up and set it to FEED. Next go to Head Close and set it to FEED also and then save settings. It will only shoot one label out instead of Calibrate. Which is needed when they install new lables if its the same type of label all the time really don't need to Calibrate every time you stick new labels in it.
After About 10 tickets a white line will start showing up in the
If printing with ribbon, check to see if you have ribbon burnt onto the printhead. If so, lower the temp of the heat on print. Or you can speed up the print speed.
I have seen this happen alot when the ambient temp is low, and the printer tries to make up for the differences in temperature.
Check the hed first..
