SmartDisk (RF-FDUSB-TM2) (RFFDUSBTM2) Floppy Drive Questions & Answers
WHEN I PLUG MY NEW SMART DISK INTO USB PC DOES NOT
It is a USB "plug-and-play" device. If the hardware is OK, then Windows XP (and Vista/7/8) should detect it, and assign a drive-letter. So, the hardware must be "dead". Search on eBay for "external USB floppy" to buy a replacement.

Have a fl disk FDUSB-TM2
Search on eBay for a different USB floppy-drive with a USB interface -- some sellers in China have them at very good prices.
Use that replacement to read from your floppy disks.

Does it work with Word
I don't understand your question.
Normally a device (your floppy drive) is not operated by an application (Word 2010), rather, the device is operated by your operating system. I presume your operating system is some version of Windows and I presume your floppy is a USB device. That being the case, when you attach your floppy to your computer, the operating system identifies it as a resource. When you open your application (Word 2010), one of the 'save' options should be your floppy drive. If that drive doesn't show up directly, you may select it from a list of devices offered by Windows through save window that appears when you click SAVE..
The direct answer to your quesiton is ... there should be no reason to think the drive can not be used with the application. You can save (a document) to any device that is available to your computers operating system, even those shared through other computers on your network.
If I missed the ball, please clarify your question. If I did hit the mark, please remember a favorable evaluation for this response will be appreciated.

My external floppy drive will not install.
I don't remember if you can do the power savings on the USB port in XP. If you can, you access that through the Advanced Settings button of the Screen Saver tab (either Control Panel, Display Options or right click on the display anywhere there isn't a program window or icon).
Since your USB ports work for other devices, it may be that either the drive failed or that built-in cable has been damaged. To replace the cable, you would need to open up the case and desolder the connection and solder in a new cable. I can't advise you on that since I wouldn't have a clue of which wire would be which.

Can't load SmartDisk FDUSB=TM2 on Vista Premium 64
Hello,
Windows Vista carries a lot of glitches ....we need to give it more time as it improves. The XP environment works better with older technologies like the smart disk floppy drive. My advice is for you to partition your hard disk and place Windows XP on one side and still keep the Vista on the other. That way you can have both OSystems and still be able to use your floppy drive. Alternatively you can upgrade and use a flash drive storage or DVD/CD. They are newer technology which are more compatible with Vista.
Cheers & Kind Regards

SmartDisk:FDUSB-TM2
Good indication that it probably isn't compatible with Vista. The only thing you can do is either return the floppy drive for refund, or downgrade vista to XP so you can use it.

Configuraton of my computer for aSmartdisk Fdusb-tm2
You need to find and download drivers for the drive, this usually isn't the case though if you are using an up to date opertaing system.. serach online for "Smartdisk FBUSB- TM2 Drivers" and this should sort out the problem after you install them and re-start the laptop..
