Have not been able to find any drivers for this device for Win7-64, I works fine on pre win7 machines, but under win7 it says that all of my disks need to be formated.

It is possible that there are errors on the floppy disk or the disk was formated using a format that is incompatible with the current operating system. If the disk is readable on another system, the best solution would be to copy the files onto a portable USB flash drive, then reformat the floppy disk using a filesystem that is readable on the desired computer.

How does it work?
Hi.
The external floppy reader is easy to use.
The unit is completely plug and play.
Simply plug the USB connector from the Floppy into the computer, the unit will be detected and installed automatically on any Windows XP, Vista, or Win 7 computer.
Installing the external drive takes no more than two minutes, usually less.
Once installed the floppy will be displayed into My computer, along with the other drives, exactly as if it was an internal drive, and it will be ready to use.
Let me know if you need further instructions.
Please do not forget to leave feedback.
Thanks.

I'm assuming this is on a PC. If so, inserting a floppy will not cause the PC to do anything. (The reasons for this are historical and not important to solving your problem.) You need to open "My Computer", then browse to your A: drive to see the files on the floppy.
A handy shortcut to My Computer is to press Windows+E. (Like Ctrl+E, but using the key with the Windows logo on it instead of the Ctrl key.)
No power
Well, the first step in any problem of this nature is to narrow down the problem. We have three main things in effect here, and we need to know which one has the problem before we can fix it.
First, the disk itself. Try other disks and make sure the disk is not faulty.
Second, the usb ports. Try other devices in your usb ports to ensure they are installed and configured properly.
If all of those work, it is narrowed down to the floppy drive itself. If it does not work on any pc's at all, then it definately has a problem, and I would suggest contacting SmartDisk technical support.
I plugged in and powered on the SmartDisk CrossFire XF160 to my windows 8.1 pc, it automatically installed driver, but the drive does not appear in windows explorer. what can i do?

6: make sure the DISK U picked size matches your external disk size.~~
7: right click the DISK1 or what it is and pick new simple volume
8: right click disk1 and format it. to fat 32 or NTFS.
