does the remote controller is the original remote for your tv ?. if yes and doesn't work the cause is either the IR sensor of the tv is get bad or has a problem in the board.

Your TV needs demagnetizing. All tv repairmen have a demagnetizing coil to clear up the pictures on CRT tube televisions. It only takes about 10 seconds by waving the coil around and around in the front of the tube with the tv is on. Another possiblity (without my looking at the screen) is that there is a capacitor that filters the 200 volts to the socket of the tube that could be bad. However, it it is likely to need demagnetizing.

( i think your tv set screen is low width and up or down corner is bend ) if yes then replace capaciter 10uf/63v non poler or Pin IC

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours,sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

test the outlet you are using for the tv by plugging in another device like a blow dryer or a light. That way you can be sure u have power at the outlet.

I have a sony trinitron kv35s40 and the problem is picture cuts off after a minute or so. We moved it to another room (it's really heavy 36") and it started with the problem.We live upstairs and can't bring it to a repair shop without a lot of effort.Please help What can it be?

Franko, If your sure about troubleshooting HI VOLTAGE then disconnect the horizontal output transistor first. Is it shorted? if it is get the fly and the transistor. But I wouldnt start it up with out a variac transformer. For the parts, go to http://www.partstore.com amd see what the parts cost or get the tele # and call them. BE CAREFULL. Good Luck

Sounds like the screen control which is usually mounted in your high voltage transformer (Flyback) has opened up. Stargazer

Well, seven years on a SONY is pretty good. These chassis have a good number of plugs and jacks on the main board. If you feel competent enough to open the back of the set, I'd go to Radio shack and buy a can of electronic components cleaner and a can of compressed air. Then, with the cover removed, find the plug that goes to the deflection coil on the neck of the tube. It should have four to six large wires on it. Disconnect the plug and lightly spray the EC cleaner on the plug and jack. If you have an old toothbrush, scrub the pins where they're exposed. Absorb any excess fluid with a paper towel and then blow the connctors dry with the air. Reassemble and test the set. If this doesn't work, your going to have to probe the other connectors with a wooden dowel rod while the set is on. PLEASE be careful around any High Voltage components! There's probably a good layer of dust inside the set as well. This layer can act as a blanket and cause components to overheat so carefully cleaning this out with a vacume wouldn't hurt. Is easy for them to say replace the main board,it will cost as much as a new tv or close,they say that because of the damage lighting or power surge causes and is unrepairable,some home owners insurance cover this damages and they just replace the equipment since is not worth repairing.You can call Sony just to see how much they want for a new board.Let Us know if you need any more information.
