I have a Sony MHC-GX555 stereo and every time I try to open the disc tray it either flashes EX-Change or mechanical error and it won't open.

You need to have the fan in the check,possibly its not working anylonger

Hi the audio stage is blown.I suggest you take it to a technician to have amp module replaced

something inside the unit has caused it to go on protect mode it sounds. check the v supply from the fan as well as the audio output ic and main pc board.
