My RCA D52W19 TV HAS

Hi,
If you've confirmed that the mute is not on, this is an indication that the audio board inside was gone bad. This is where the internal speaker was connected. The common faulty parts there is the sound output IC(mounted in heat sink) and some of the resistor. This IC fails because of constant heat exposure and also aging. Once replaced with new IC and some of the resistor, the sound will back to normal again.

Also, bad solder joints(dry/cold solder) is to consider in that board. This is hard to spot, I would advice you to find it in the brightest area or use a table lamp/portable lamp and magnifying glass.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified technician to troubleshoot the symptom.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

RCA D52W15 52 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

The component connections are usually video only and the audio goes to separate connectors set aside for that input. Check your manual to make sure you have all the connections made.

Trying to finds rca part flyback 10799630

You can get the flybacks from www.tvrepairworld.com and you should need the 259296 or the 265409 flyback for your model. They will assist with identifying which one was used in your model.

Picture looks a little warped.

This could do with the picture tube, or another internal error, or it could do with the source of the content playing, if you are connecting straight from a TV wall jack, then maybe the TV requires a HD component, try playing around with the TV setting and changing it from 16:9 to 4:3 aspect ratio see if that helps. There is a video on youtube I found of somebody taking apart the TV in order to fix it. xhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfyPxb-F6wM
Goodluck :)

It tries to power on but wont

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I turn the tv on

The light goes out because there's a part inside the tv that has failed and , when powered, acts as a short, causing the power source to go in emergency shutdown.
Normally that should have been detected by the processor of the tv and it would have signaled the probable fault by flashing the light a number of times = generating an error code Since this doesn't happen it means that either the damage is extensive and it has hit the processor itself or that the faulty part is in power source and it prevents it from powering anything else.
Because of that the only way to know what has failed in your tv is to open it and test it - you need a good electronics experience for that. You will have to call a repairman and in the mean time unplug the tv- keeping it powered only makes the damage bigger and more expensive to fix.

I Have A 1998 RCA Home Theatre TV Sound Works But

May be the high voltage lead(s) have popped off of one of the pix tubes...the flyback(HV) transformer may be defective....you can remove the rear cover and look to see what is arcing..be very careful as the voltage may be as high as 25000 Volts...if one of the anode caps has popped off, then you will first need to use an insulated screwdriver that is grounded to the chassis through one of those alligator clip jumper leads..this process will discharge the unit to make it safe to work on the HV components...then you will need to pop the anode cap back onto the tube making sure it has a good tight fit...if the problem is elsewhere, you will need to call the serviceman for repairs

My color is all wrong, have tried to use menu with

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
