RCA D61W20 61" Rear Projection Television Questions & Answers
HD TV Powers off and on by itself
What you need to do is remove the back if your comfortable doing it and test the voltage on the pin marked PSON..its the signal from the main board telling the power supply to come out of sleeping mode and get to work...if that voltage is dropping off then its in the main board if it stays the same when its on and when it shuts off its the power board...Good luck!
Cracks and pops when turned on and will flash light across screen at times.
That could be a number of things that would make that noise, Have you removed the front panel screen in front on bottom and try turn TV on Look for Spark? Bad anode button on one of the tubes can cause that, bad flyback transfomer.Have you removed back and look to see if arc is coming from the FBT Mounted on Deflection board. First board on the left is the deflection board.
Why does my televison have sound but no picture.
Sounds like the cables are not placed correctly. Unfortunately I do not know what cable you are using, but I assume its a VGA cable, so make so make sure the colors fit, so to speak.
It is a very common mistake, so I recommend trying fiddling with the cable making sure they are in the right ports.

why did you take apart the lenses did you take other parts a loose. may you unpluged a conniction or you need to back trace what you did if it was working before you did it. did you open the tubes
Power light turns on for 10 seconds then off. won't
There may be bad capacitors on the deflection board. They are the round cylindrical things with shiny tops. You will need to pull the board out to see them. Make sure they aren't bulged or leaking. You may also have a dead high voltage circuit. If you aren't experienced in electronics then I would leave it to a professional because there are high voltages on this part.

This part is known a flyback transformer ... the part that generated high voltage..(serval thosand volt) for the picture tubes..and as a technician i would not call them easy to replace. usally when you replace this you replace another component called a horizontal output transistor which becomes shorted. also getting the flyback is tricky.. there several version of it.
RCA D61W20 antenna/cable broke off
You have two real options here.First any good shop can remove the board and repair/replace the fitting but it will not be cheap.Figure 150 minimum for this on this set. Second: If you have a cable or sat or other box for signal and it has AV jacks on the back---go from them to one of the inputs on the back of the set and BYPASS the tuner connection. If you do not have a box but have an old VCR around (it does not have to work) you can connect the signal source to it and from its output (audio/video not the coax) route signal to the set.Does this make sense or do you have questions?sd tech

Have trouble getting the tv
Hello,
Without physically being there it would be hard to tell you exactly what is the cause of the issue, however this sounds more like a issue on the power board then anything else. Bad Capacitors could be a notable issue in these Tv's. Again without looking at the tv and you could upload a picture or a url where the picture is located to like photo bucket or a sky drive of close ups with the back cover off we could get a better feel of where the issue is.
Many of these tv's that have a hard time turning on is the power supply board showing signs of wear and fatigue.
We do hope this information is helpful of some sense to you.

How to replace a bulb
Hello
To replace bulb in RCA rear projection TVs follow this.
Turn the lamp assembly so that the front of the bulb faces downward
Locate two clips approximately three inches apart along the back edge of the rear lamp cover. Depress the clips with your thumbs and pull upward on the rear lamp cover to disengage it. Move the rear lamp cover so that you can see the head of the bulb. Note that the rear lamp cover still connects to the base of the bulb by a cable.
Locate the three hex screws around the head of the bulb that, in a triangle formation, secure the bulb to the assembly. Remove the screws with a hex screwdriver.
Pull the bulb and rear lamp cover upward to remove them.
Remove the nut that connects the cable from the rear lamp cover to the base of the bulb with a wrench. Disconnect the cable from the old bulb and discard the old bulb.
Reattach the cable from the rear lamp cover to the base of a new bulb and install the nut. Tighten the nut with a wrench
Install the bulb face down into the lamp assembly. Install the three hex screws into the tabs along the edge of the bulb and tighten with a hex screwdriver.
Reinstall the rear lamp cover onto the lamp assembly and line up the tabs with the holes along the side of the assembly. Press downward until the cover snaps into place.
Reinstall the lamp assembly into the back of the television, facing the bulb towards the center of the TV set. Tighten the screws securing the assembly and reinstall the lamp access door. Tighten the screw on the lamp access door.
