How have you formatted(ntfs/fat/fat32)?
Most players use the fat file system, and won't work using ntfs or fat32.
Have you wiped the firmware?
The firmware is the players operating system and needs to be there to run it.
If you run the firmware upgrade program, if you have it, you may be able to recover the player.
www.samsung.com
try the site for the firmware upgrade program.

My mp3 player can't HDD intialize can this be repaired or replaced
Without a personal look it's hard to say but it sounds like the hard drive has died. It's not surprising really. The player gets carted around all over the place whilst a Computer hard drive normally sits in one place.
What could've happened is if you carry the unit with whilst jogging or running with it switched off the hard drive heads could knock against the platters causing a tiny dent. As the platter is only thin aluminium it's not hard to do. This dent then causes the heads to jump when it's spinning and when it lands it causes another dent and when the heads hit that dent it jumps and causes another one etc. etc. That's when you end up with a dead hard drive.
That's looking at the bad side but you could be lucky and all it needs is a reformat and reinstall of the software. Being an MP3 player I'm not sure how you'd do that. If indeed you can. Seeing as how it would appear as a mass storage device on your PC it should be able to be formatted the same way as any other Computer based hard drive. Maybe the software you need came on the CD supplied with the player.
First step would be to see if the computer recognises the player and take it from there.

Okay, if it was an Apple iPod, then when you connect it to iTunes, you can see an option to restore it. You can restore it to the original settings, with any software, like the original, the latest update etc. It will help you.
If it isn't Apple, please don't call it an iPod and write the correct branded name please to avoid any kind of confusions.
