It's important to gently move the toner cartridge from side to side to distribute the toner evenly through the cartridge. This could be causing your blank lines. Also, clean the Corona wire when installing a new toner cartridge. Best of luck.

Open the front of the fax machine. Then pull down the the tray that has the down arrow imprinted on it. Locate the glass strip towards the back, just behind the center roller. Use a cloth and rubbing alcohol to clean the glass and that should remove the black line.

called service tech, went through a series of checks, still couldn't get it to feed more than on paper at a time.

Solution, purchased a new machine.

make sure that "autoreduction" is set to on. should be in your owners manual. also, make sure your paper size is set correctly.

The "drum" referred to is the imaging drum which is replaced separately from the toner cartridge. The drum life is rated for a certain number of copies, and the printer is telling you it's time. Replacement drums are available at big-box office places and from many online sources. Just do a Google search for "kx-fl511 drum". The new drum just slides in much like the toner cartridge, so replacing it isn't difficult.

reset the unit..press menu#9000*550 Then press start.Call service 3 has something to do with the temperature of the unit check thermostat @ the fuser unit.replace it because the thermostat is not switching to on/off condition although it reaches its peak temperature.

If you cannot send or recieve. First make sure you have a dial tone at the jacj in the wall if you cannot hear it on the handset of the fax plug a phone into it and make sure.
Second make sure you have the line from the wall plugged into the jack on th machine that says LINE. Most machines have three jacks Phone handset and LINE Make sure you are in the LINE jack.

One of two things is happening ok maybe three. If the machine thinks the size of the paper is not what u are using this could happen. Try:

For any adjustment you could make.
The second is the paper is getting picked up a little late. The machine knows it did not print the entire page and finishes the job. Try cleaning the pick op roller.
The third is the page being sent to you is to long. This would likely be from one location only. There machine could be slipping when scanning and "extending" the page it is trying to send.

check the phone line with a regular phone.

it appers that the steeper motor has jammed & which is why the motor drive chip has blown up!this chip is on the main board!
ideally u will need to change the motor & the main board also.better to trade in for an exchange offer as this machine has a toner & drum issue also! better to go for a new brother fax 2820

it would cost as much to have a technician replace the ADF motor as a new fax machine.
