Hi, Paper Pick up Rollers get dirty or worn out with the passage of time.
Hence, require cleaning or replacement if worn out. In case you find
them dirty use
a soft, dry, lint free cloth to clean the rollers. Dont use chemicals
as they may damage the rubber and plastic. However, if needed, you can
use damp cloth or some cleaning liquid such as mild detergent of glass cleaner to damp the cloth. As you have posted your question under Panasonic KX-FL511 is would highlight the steps for it. Im Using a similar model KX-FL612
After lifting the top cover, you have to pull down the under part of it down to locate the rollers
Lift the top Cover, Locate the roller and clean them..Hope it helps! Good Luck!CreativeTECH

Error drum life over
Ok what the error means is that you have used the fax to print so many pages. The image drum is what actually creates the image that gets printed. These are rated for so many pages.I think it is about 10,000 pages on this unit. The fax (and printers and copiers) simply count the number of pages and then when they reach the limit you see this error. Sometimes the print quality looks pretty goof but usually you can see some spots or rough print or fuzzy bits and so on. What you need to do is replace the image drum.
Here is the important bit. You can buy a replacement image drum for about $75 from several sources aside from Panasonic (Amazon, Office Depot, Staples etc) however a new replacement is only worth $120. So if you can change it yourself (it is pretty easy to do, almost identical to the toner cartridge replacement) then it may be worth doing. If you have to call someone in by the time they add labour on top you could have saved some money and just buy a new unit.

It is probably the same problem I just had with mine through Comcast. All I was getting was a not answered message no matter what number I dialed. I had the telephone line running through a surge surpressor that had one line running in and then two lines running out. I had been hooking up my fax through one of the two out lines. When I switched it to the main line and not through the surge protector everything worked fine.
So if you have any splitters or surge surpressors on your line - switch to the main line and see if your problems does away like mine did.
Have a great night!

We can send faxes but
Problems with the Panasonic fax machines include issues with the initial settings; sending and receiving faxes; copying and paper jams. These issues can be troubleshot.
Verify that the Panasonic fax machine is plugged into a phone line jack if you can't hear a dial tone when initially setting up the machine. Try a plain, analog phone on that line instead and see if you get a dial tone. Replace the phone line cord if you still don't get a dial tone; the phone line cord may be broken internally.
Try copying the document you are trying to send if the receiving party complains that your fax is illegible. If you make a copy on the Panasonic machine and it looks good, you have confirmed that the scan function and the print function work fine. The problem may well be with the respondent's fax machine.
Change the fax's receiving mode from TEL to TAM/FAX or FAX ONLY if the other party reports that he can't send you a fax. You can make these changes in the Menu area. TEL means that the fax machine is functioning as a telephone and not a fax.
Replace the ink film with a new one if the Panasonic fax machine won't make a copy or received faxes look poor. Open the covers and remove the used core and used ink film. Remove the stoppers and tags from the new ink film, insert the ink film and close the covers.
Remove the paper tray first if paper jams. Don't remove the jammed paper. Open the front cover by pulling up the center part. Open the back cover and then remove the jammed paper.
Good luck.
