Cuisinart CPT-180

default_avatar.png Dale Anderson 1- Crumbs or part wearout may be keeping the plastic latch from engaging. If you have the toaster apart, you can compare the arm latching action of the good side with the bad side--maybe there is an obvious difference in the travel of the arm that keep it from engaging.---leaving the travel short even 1/8" can keep the latch from engaging. 2- If there is nothing obviously mechanically wrong, then it may be a control board malfunction. Make sure the 3-pin control board connector is plugged into the transformer/solenoid board. Since you are getting lights, this should be OK. You have at least one good board (the side that works) so you could plug that board into the other side to see if the arm stays down. For fun, you can plug the bad board into the other side to see if the other side now malfunctions. If the problem follows the board, then you have your answer. If you know someone that understands electronics, they may be able to repair the board--have them look at electrolytic capacitor C1 and make sure it is good. If that part is bad, it can be replaced for about $1 by going to Fry's and purchasing a replacement capacitor. After a couple of years of use, a defective C1 may "dry out" and cause control board problems.
  • I repaired the same symtom that happened to one of the sides of my CPT-180 toaster. The magnets wouldn't engage due to a bad C1 capacitor on the circuit board that controlled that side of the toaster--the capacitor was bulged out on the bottom and turned out to be bad. I've attached some photos showing C1 bulged out compared to C1 on the good board. C1 is the main power supply capacitor and if it goes bad, the circuit board power supply won't function correctly. This can lead to a broad spectrum of problems like the lever not staying down due to the magnets not engaging or the toasting control/timing circuits malfunctioning. If you replace the capacitor, it is best in most cases to replace with the same value as the orginal (220uf on my toaster)---you can usually get a replacement capacitor at Fry's Electronics. Replacing with a higher capacitance may be acceptable, but you should understand the impact to the rest of the circuit before you substitute a higher capacitance value. The voltage rating and temperature rating of the replacement capacitor should be the same or greater or the capacitor will fail quickly. Note the max temperature rating of capacitor C1 is +105C---toasters get hot (duh!) and the temperature around the circuit board of this model gets quite warm, so the temperature rating of the capacitor is critical. Finally, make sure the substitute capacitor fits when installed (requires soldering) and does not interfere with surrounding circuitry or other toaster mechanics when the circuit board is put back in place. My Cuisinart Toaster's left side lights up

I repaired a problem with one of the sides of my CPT-180 toaster that was fixed by replacing C1. Problem with the CUISINART RBT-450BKPC costco toaster

We had exact the same problem. Our problem was within the circuit board controlling the release relay, on the left side. 3 parts was dead:
1) rectifier diode 200V 1amp
2) Electrolytic capacitor 220uF 25V
3 Zener diode 12V 1W
These components supplies 12VDC to the rest of the circuits from the mains, 127 VAC.

The right side will not stay down. Where can I

Before you take this in for repair, try taking it outside and turning it upside down and bang the heck out of it. Most times this problem is caused by bits of food and crumbs building up around the magnet that holds the lever down. Clean it out thouroghly and see if it starts working again. As far as who would work on this, most small appliance repair people will do this but as far as costs they can range anywhere from $25.00 to $50.00 depending on who you take it to and that may be cost prohibitive. You can howver try and find the parst for this on line and repair it yourself. parts should include a new electro magnet and all you have to do is mount it and wire it up. Most likely once you clean it it will work again and while your at it check and make sure the electro magnet has not fallen out of place and just is not contacting the metal fram that hodls the toast or on the handle in some models.

The toaster arms will not stay down on either side

First, turn it to the darkest setting. It may be set too light to stay down. Also, try cleaning it out. Take it outside and turn it upside down and shake it. Also, open the crumb door on the bottom. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

How do I clean a mushy broccoli cake out of my

****NOTE* Do this at your own discretion as I can not assume any responsibility for your actions and only offer this as a potential solution.****

Well first be sure that you unplug the toaster from the electric outlet. If its a standard toaster as in one that does not have a digital display or other fancy controls then you should be able to take the spray hose at the kitchen sink and spray out most if not all of it. You may have to do this a second or third time so that the residue gets wet and looses some of its cohesiveness enough for the spray gun to push it out. Be sure to open the cleaning panel at the bottom of the toaster while doing this and pointing it at the bottom of the sink. Once done give the toaster a few good shakes to get out excess water then place outside in the sun to air out for 24 hours then re shake and check for any signs of moisture as plugging in the toaster and turning it on with water inside could pop a fuse or worse.

Toaster arms will not stay down

Arms stay down by the mean of an electromagnet, controlled by a chip. If the wall outlet is functional, you should be able to turn on light by pressing the "defrost" or "bagel" button while the arm is held down. No light? the toaster is good for garbage!!

My Cuisinart bread machine has stopped baking the bread, it goes through the 3 hour cycle but at the end the dough is risen but not baked. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

If your Cuisinart bread machine is not baking the bread properly, there could be a few potential causes for the issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and resolve the problem: 1. Check the Bread Pan: Ensure that the bread pan is properly inserted into the machine and securely locked in place. Make sure it is centered and seated correctly. 2. Check the Kneading Paddle: Verify that the kneading paddle is properly installed in the bread pan. It should be securely attached to the spindle at the bottom of the bread pan. 3. Use Fresh Ingredients: Ensure that you are using fresh and high-quality ingredients, including flour, yeast, and other additives. Old or expired ingredients can affect the bread's rising and baking process. 4. Verify Yeast Activation: Make sure that the yeast you are using is active and not expired. Test the yeast by dissolving it in warm water with a small amount of sugar. If it doesn't become foamy and bubbly within a few minutes, the yeast may be inactive, and you should replace it. 5. Check the Program Settings: Confirm that you have selected the correct program for the type of bread you are making. Different programs have different settings for kneading, rising, and baking. Make sure you are using the appropriate program for your recipe. 6. Monitor the Dough: Throughout the kneading and rising process, observe the dough to ensure it is properly formed and rising. If the dough seems too dry or too wet, adjust the recipe accordingly by adding small amounts of flour or water. 7. Inspect the Heating Element: If the bread machine completes the cycle but the bread is not baked, there may be an issue with the heating element. Inspect the heating element for any signs of damage or malfunction. If it appears faulty, it may need to be replaced. In such cases, contacting Cuisinart customer support or a qualified technician for further assistance is recommended. By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve common issues that may prevent your Cuisinart bread machine from properly baking the bread.

Steamer does not work on my cuisinart steamer/convection oven

If the steamer function is not working on your Cuisinart steamer/convection oven, you can try the following troubleshooting steps: 1. Check Power and Settings: Ensure that the steamer/convection oven is properly connected to a power source and turned on. Make sure you have selected the correct steaming function and set the desired time and temperature. 2. Water Level: Check the water level in the steaming reservoir or water tank. Some steamers require a minimum amount of water to generate steam. Ensure that the water level meets the manufacturer's recommended guidelines. 3. Water Reservoir Placement: Confirm that the water reservoir is correctly placed in the steamer/convection oven. It should be securely seated in its designated position. 4. Steam Vent: Ensure that the steam vent or release valve is not blocked or obstructed. Any blockage in the steam vent can prevent steam from being released properly. Clean any debris or buildup that may be affecting the vent. 5. Steam Function Timing: Some steamers require preheating before steam is generated. Consult the user manual to determine if the steamer/convection oven requires preheating and for how long. Allow sufficient time for the steamer to reach the appropriate temperature. 6. Clean the Steamer: If the steamer has not been used for an extended period, it may have accumulated mineral deposits or limescale. Clean the steamer according to the manufacturer's instructions to remove any buildup that could be affecting its performance. 7. Contact Cuisinart Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to Cuisinart customer support for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps for your model or advise on potential hardware issues that may require repair or replacement. When contacting customer support, provide them with the model number, a detailed description of the issue, and any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This information will help them assist you more effectively. or you can refer to the videos below.

My Cuisinart CPK17 kettle is not working, light is on but not heating up. The base works.

The solution could be more complicated than you want. The following is one persons solution. AnonymousOct 11, 2021 I've just fixed my ck17 which had similar symtoms. There are 2 electrolytic capacitors in the controller board, which I replaced. It's very close to the bottom of the kettle where the elements is,and they are only rated at 105degrees, .one of them had evidence of leaking, so I replaced.them both, with higher voltage ones ,also rated at 105degrees. 1000uf 6.3v replaced with 1000uf 16v 47uf 25v replaced with 47uf 50v

The mixing paddle of my Cuisinart CBK-200 disconnects during the cycle and stops working on kneading the dough. Is there a fix for this issue?

Hi, Please check whether this issue persists with lower viscosity dough. It could be the pressure and/or thickness of the dough that's causing the disconnection. Or it your device is over a certain age you might need to replace the mixing paddle or replace the part that holds it still within the bread maker. You can call Cuisinart to ask if there has been a recall due to this as well. Their phone number is 1-800-726-0190 Thank you.
