may have screws on the bottom and the loader knob usually has to be pried off. Place soft wood like a ruler against the housing and pry carefully from side to side with a large screwdriver. After working on it, plug it in outside to a ground-fault ac plug on a fireproof surface to test.

Heats on one side only

Friend,

Obviously only one side is getting current or only one element is functional. Eitherway, please open the sides of the toaster on the nonfunctional side and check if the wiring to the element is ok. If connections are OK then the element may have got burnt. Please replace it and reconnect the wires and close the sides.

I have just bought 10617

It sounds like the unit has failed, I don't know what you could possibly do at your current location. You are going to at least need a new heating element and replace it, and if you are going to do that you may as well get a new one. You can contact the manufacturer and claim a warranty on it and they will ship you a new one, that is your best bet if there is no possible way to return it.

Thanks

Lever does not stay down

Buy a new toaster.

After a week or two return the broken toaster to the shop saying it won't work and ask for a refund.

Good luck!
