There are two fault possibilities for this problem. Both are not user reapairable. The first one is of 'sled' motor. Sled motor is one that spins the DVD disc inside the DVD mechanism. If it fails to rotate the disc, the laser reading assembly cant get any signal from the inserted disc and will show "Reading" display on the front panel for a long time, and finally stops. The second one is of Laser Pickup Unit Assembly itself. If it has got damaged, there will be no laser beam to scan the DVD inserted, and the same thing as described above will occur. In both cases the final displauy will be "Open". To replace both items, you have to take its mechanism fully outside and to disassemble it. It is really a skilled work. It is best for you to get it repaired by any experienced service technician you know very well, or get it repaired by any authorised service centers. OK.

The setup depends on the TV. If the TV doesn't have composite (A/V), S-video or component inputs, you will need an RF modulator. For the basic functions you need the composite video (3 RCA jacks, yellow, red, white, on both ends). The antenna in/out is for recording and passing through (on some models) the signal from the coax only. Note: the output jacks are to the right of the composite and S-video inputs. For a better picture from DVDs, you can connect the component video cable. There are no advantages to this if you need the RF modulator.

This DVD recorder has an analog tuner, NTSC (OTA) or CATV. So it needs to be attached to a digital to analog set top box unless you are getting a signal from an analog source for recording. Some set top boxes output will only let you get one channel at a time so you will have to watch the station you are recording. (If the set top box has dual tuners, you will be able to watch one program and record another.) (If you use the RF modulator, you may want some type of switch and splitter so that you can share the coax. This may let you watch the cable signal when the recorder is recording a program that you do not want to watch while recording.)

U using DVD+R DVD disc?Not possible the DVD+R DVD disc to be reformat,it only can be burn and written data's into the disc only one time to the DVD+R disc.Are u using DVD+RW DVD this disc can be reformat,but DVD+RW DVD disc doesn't reformat by itself.It can't.The DVD+RW DVD disc data's only can be over written with new data's putting into it.

I don't think there is an update available I did extensive research and found that this product is garbage with nothing but problems and to top it off the company has no internet site no phone no address ... go figure ... Best I can do for you is ... Use what works till it no longer works then trash it ... sorry:( and on a good note ... Sony and TDK are the Best media out there and work when no others will!!!

If you remove the top panel, the recorder will work for some reason. Usually only while the top is off. It's not very cosmetic, but it works.

I am sure there is one to download but did not found anything with google...

often problems with lines is either down to RF or if all the cameras are powered of the same psu that it could be that your psu is underated and the cameras are pulling to many amps most moden cameras rum anything from 200mas upto 1.5amps with infra red so if you only have a 500ma psu its going give up slowely
