You have bad convergence ICs. Not too difficult to replace if you have good soldering skills and are very conciensious. No,ur tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv convergence board must have it 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors must be replaced to solved the convergence problems.The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

Replace both of your convergence ICs STK392-110s use 150s Mats Has Them 1-800-628-1118

You will need to replace the two STK 392-110 convergence chips; most of the time in this model it is fairly easy--there are two versions of this set and one is more easy than the other.


If you are a do it yourself person I can step you through the entire repair--total parts cost will be under thirty dollars and I can also tell you everything you will need and the best place to get the parts.

It sounds like a convergence problem; take the set in the customer menu to convergence and see if the cross in the center of the screen will adjust--if the blue will not move in some direction you have found your problem(same with red)
Most of these sets use two convergence IC chips and if the one with the blue is bad don't be surprised if it has a burnt resistor near it--it will be discolored--ic's are usually as you look from the back of the set on a large metal heat sink or sinks(with fins) on the right side Usually this is fixable in your home--I do a lot of them in the area here where I live in San Diego--now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops---shop around and get someone who knows what they are doing.

Check to make sure that the lamp access cover is installed properly. There is a safety switch that prevents the tv from powering on while this cover is off. This may be true especially if the lamp was serviced recently or the tv was moved, power cord pulled etc.

Does the set have sound ? makes a big difference in the diagnosis, let me know

Have you CK all of the resistors? there is 6 of them RK42,46,50,54,58,60.and Have you replaced both of your convergence ICs STKs392-110s use180s

Replace Both of your convergence ICs they are big black ICs and ck resistors RK4246,50,54,58,62 i have the values if you need them they are 1.5ohms up to 3.9ohms.ICs will have STK392-110s if this is the number on yours upgrade to 180s

You have convergence output failure. The output ICs will need to be replaced and possibly a small component like a resistor or two as well. Expect to pay a service company $350-$450 to resolve this.

The problem you are facing is a common problem in all rear projection TVs. It's called convergence. If you go into your menu there is an adjustment for it. if it doesn't move back into alignment then you have a more serious problem in the convergence circuit which will require replacement of components.

Well the green gun is whats inside the green picture tube or crt(cathode ray tube).. Irt certainly sounds like you have a problem with the convergence but the only way to tell for sure is put on a full cross hatch pattern like the one thats used for major alighnments such as after a tube is replace. This problem you have is probably the convergence IC and the part dosent unplug or come out easyly as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set. It should be left up to the service station for the manufacturer. Not alot you can do unless your a tech . Sorry Good luck
