The Pertronix system can be troublesome.Put back the points and try again.Please check for voltage at the coil POSITIVE side.10 V. is OK. My system took a dump in the rain.The solenoid has nothing to do with not running.You will be fine.
Plugs would probably not be my first check, though fouled plugs or more likely points may be contributing. I would first check fuel and air screens and filters. Be sure you have clean fuel coming through. Here is an excellent resource if you haven't found it already ....

try replacing the coil with a straight 12 volt coil and not a resistance coil as the missing could be from a overheated coil
if the coil is at fault then when the engine starts to miss then then coil would be hot to the touch
