Ms9520 won't send info to computer, shuts down my keyboard

Sounds like something is plugged in wrong or when you were moving it something came ajar. Sometimes cards in memory slot, pci slots or pcie slots come ajar when moving. Open desktop and inspect all your cards in their slots You will see what I am talking about if you open it up. even if one of the cards is a tad crooked it will act like you are saying, it shuts down to protect itself and sometimes it is too late. Just push down on all the cards in slots to make sure they are firmly in place. See what happens.

My RS-232 scanner beeps at the bar code but nothing appears on-screen.

The "Beep" just means that the scanner has been presented with a valid barcode. (nothing more) The scanner has probably not been set up correctly as this is a common issue. the settings need to be set correctly for your environment. you should have a code book with some bar codes in (part of the manual) which can set all the options within the scanner, There is an option to recall defaults here is the electronic manual ftp://ftp.metrologic.com/pub/download/productmanuals/00-02544.pdf

My scanner reads only12 numbers

Perhaps you should ask for replacements and ask for a bar code scanner who reads 13 numbers because even how many times you try it over and over again if the function of the scanner is limited in reading 12 number the results will be the same..Hope it can Help you.

MS9520 serial connected to the terminal - does not send keys to the terminal server

Ok this is an old questions, but I had a similar problem recently. I found that I had to install Softwedge on the Remote computer.

I was trying to use the scanner over remote desktop. Remote dektop needs to have serial communication enabled. The computer that you are connecting to via RDP needs to have softwedge installed.

Have you properly programmed the scanner? Are you sure the codes you are scanning are readable and are programmed as active in the scanner? Is the scanner set up to communicate properly with your PC/other device? I'd review the User's Guide and follow their instructions. Here's a link to the guide. We have the barcodes to scan to emulate the keyboa...

Without knowing your application or scanner programming I can't be certain but it sounds like the scanner may be reading information on the code that you want parsed out. Check with whomever labels the units to find out exactly what is in the barcode (it's possible the "35 S " is not encoded) and then determine what you need to send to the program you are scanning the information in to. The scanner can be programed to pass along only specific characters that were scanned (i.e. the 13048) and to pre-pend or append additional characters as well (i.e. 35 S ). You'll need the scanner's programming manual to do that. Here's a link to the scanner's programming manual. Choose the first User's Guide on the list:

Hooked scanner up to new computer. Reads bar code

It sounds like you are connecting to a serial port and you are trying to scan into a program that needs keyboard data. Download the "Softwedge" program from the Metrologic website.

Voyager scans into hyer terminal but not Notepad

Did you read the installation and configuration manuals? I download them from this website:
http://tinyurl.com/359pwh

Your scanner might note be configured correctly.

here are the guides I downloaded:
http://tinyurl.com/2sakgf

http://tinyurl.com/33gh4g

And the MFG website where you can download the material:
http://www.metrologic.com/corporate/products/pos/ms9520/

The scanner and host system must use the same communication protocol. I have a feeling the scanner is not configured correctly. The USB and serial connectors are 2 different types of configuration, but there are more.

You can also download the drivers and POS software from there website.
