Dell 2300MP Multimedia Projector Questions & Answers
The projector lamp comes on (amber color) no image
I was told by an expert that the fan should come on as soon as heat starts to come on. You should never turn a projector off with out the fan running for a while to cool the bulb down. Each projector is different but the fan has to operate on then all. There is so much heat in the bulbs that air has to keep them cool when they are operating as well have to cool gradually when they are shut down.
Dell 2400 MP DPL Projector projects a yellow tinted image.
Clean any external dust filters or air openings in the unit.If you don't want to remove the filters, you can simply use a vacuum cleaner hose to suction away the dust from the filter element--same effect anyway. The unit probably does indeed need a thorough cleaning.
The yellow effect is most probably a burned BLUE polarizer filter located behind the blue LCD panel. (Color key--Purple onscreen=green lcd, baby blue onscreen=red lcd, and yellow onscreen=blue lcd). That's how you can tell which lcd has dust on it! Usually, the green lcd has the most free area around it and collects the most visible dust. (large purple specs) The polarizer filters can get burned due to excessive heat (not keeping proper ventilation). Of course, it might be the blue LCD panel which is failing prematurely due to heat build-up over time. The polarizer filter isn't that expensive if it can be replaced, however, the actual lcd panel IS.---Rick

Decrease the screen resolution of your computer to the minimum possible value and check.
Probably the projector does not support the resolution of the laptop. With a lower resolution it might work.
Recognize macbook connect
You may need to check the settings of your mac book that permits you to output the signal to an external display. Also you may need to purchase a display port adapter (VGA, HDMI or DVI) that is compatible with the input connector on the projector
When i turn the projector on i hear a noise...
it's the colorwheel. the bearings are wearing out due to excessive dust and heat. it will need to be replaced. unfortunately, dell doesn't sell parts, so you'll have to send it in for repair.
No power - looks like

No power to my dell 2300mp
The fuse is a short round maroon colored part to the left of the power plug looking at the power supply module from the direction that you would connect the cord to. it is labeled F1 and it is a 4a 250v. This is not the problem with my power supply though. I suspect one of the components under the heatsink is bad.
as you all know don't bother calling dell.
