LEXMARK MS610DN CHANGE PITCH FROM 10 T0 12
On the Wheelwriter machines, it is the printwheel that determines what pitch you are in. The wheel has holes in it that a part "reads" the holes when the machine is turned on or when the printwheel is changed. You can not manually change pitch.

Your problem is probably the transport motor. It is the one that makes the carriage go back and forth. There is probably a bind in the carriage. Look at the metal shaft that runs through the carriage. Cleaning this shaft with contact cleaner and then putting a thin amount of oil on the shaft. (A very small amount mind you). You can clean the area where the shaft runs through the carriage on both sides. This will help with any binds the carriage may cause. If the problem continues, then the machine should have the motor serviced or replaced.
