Hi there,

Well first of all you can reboot your computer and printer. Then, print a test page in Notepad (programs>accessories>Notepad)--type some information on it first. If it prints ok, then it has to do with your software or fonts being corrupted. means you need to reinstall the driver of your printer (Please let us know if you do not have the driver cd). If further you have the same problem then you can remove the cartridge and put it back in. If same issue persists, try to do head cleaning and nozzle checks simultaneously from the computer.
Start -> Control Panel -> Printers & Faxes (Windows XP) You should be able to see nozzle check, click it and follow the prompt. Line patterns that corresponds to the colors of the ink cartridges would be printed. If breaks on those patterns appears, continue with head cleaning. Try to do this about 3 times until all patterns are complete. Please post comment for more help or information...........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Hi,

I guess that you are using the 64 bit version of Win Vista/7?

The problem you are facing is due to the fact that Konica Minolta does not provide 64 bit drivers for this printer.

Printer drivers are propriety so that only the manufacturer can modify or write them.

For Vista 32 bit a driver is available. Click here. Select Win Vista from the OS selector and then your desired language. Download links will be provided after selection.

If you really want to use this printer, you have to downgrade to 32 bit OS. You can also try contacting Konica Minolta directly but I doubt they will provide a compatible driver.

The other solution is to try using Windows update.

Connect your printer and let windows automatically install the driver. Go to the device manager and locate the printer. If it shows a yellow mark, right-click it and select update driver.

If you find that there is no yellow mark against the printer driver, it means that the driver is installed and you can proceed towards printing.

As I suspected the fan was the source of the problem. It is a two speed and one of the speeds was not working. Unplugged it and tested with an ohmmeter and then with a DC source. The printer works for small jobs, one or two pages and will use it that way until I can find a replacement. Never did figure out how to get the last cover off and doubt that there is a fuse anywhere that would affect the fan.

When there aren't new drivers the best thing I've found is a free download of VMware for virtual machine. It allows you to run windows vista or XP in a seperate window just like a program. Once you are in virtual XP or Vista you can use those drivers for your printers.

It looks like Konica Minolta says no. There is a driver for a newer PagePro (4650) that you might try, maybe it would support some of the older printer's features.

How to remove fuser from a 13

(3) Replacement of the Fusing Unit
<Removal Procedures>
1. Turn OFF the power switch and leave the printer to stand idle for about 20 min. (To Cool)
2. Remove the Left and Right Covers.
All I can tell you on the right cover is that there are hidden clips that have to be release to get the cover off.
3. Remove the Upper Cover.
4. Remove the Exit Cover.
5. Remove two screws and two washers. Then,
remove the Fusing Unit protective metal bracket.
6. Remove two screws, unplug three connectors,
and remove the Fusing Unit.
This is from the factory service manual and is the best I can do for you since I have yet to remove the fuser on this model.
Good Luck
