I have a GE Profile pfss6pkx. The ice maker has stopped making ice and makes a clicking sound. Do I need a new ice maker or is there something I should try first?

Hello Dave; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. 1.) Press the test button while hold the bottom freeze light switch in. The light switch is in the front top part of the freezer. Observe what happens. 2.) Your ice maker will not work if unless you reach temperature. look in the back of your freezer wall. Is there frost or ice build up? 3.) Do you have ice on the bottom of your freezer section? Then you have a frozen drain, ice built up and can not reach desired temperature. 4.0 You have a non repairable ice maker. Sometime these flex types become jammed with a ice cube in the mold. Check this out. 5.) Your ice maker has a sensor. This may be bad, but I do not think this is the problem. Get back to me on what you find from the above.

Why is fridge not cooling?

Did you check to see if the auto defrost mechanism is working? Defrost heater any good? Ice in back of freezer?

I just moved the fridge to a new house and now the fridge and freezer won't get cold. It had been sitting in storage for over about a year, but worked perfectly before that.

Its possible that during storage a few things may have happened. There is a small fan under the back that keeps the compressor cool while running. Its possible that during moving something shifted or bent the fan area and its not running. Could also be a small critter built a nest in that same area stopping the fan from running. Without that fan--- the compressor will run a very short time and then cycle itself off on the heat safety when it gets too hot. It will keep short cycling off the heat overload until the fan runs again. It will not run long enough to get to proper temp. Just guessing but check this first.

I have some frost on back wall and some food freezes now and then.

Assumeing you are saying frost on the back wall of the refigirator, I would increase the temperature for the refrigirator area. If that does not help you may have problems with the defrost system.

GE pfss6pkx refrigerator Side by side icemaker fills up with water, but doesnt push out the cubes. Why?

It is the motor that drives the ice out and it can be replaced with a new one from online or just replace the complete icemaker for less than $150 or so if you check around the web. They are readily pulled out with just a few screws holding them in and the wiring is just a snap in process. Cheaper than a service call to just replace it.
