Music Box Record Player.....have taken

WD40 leaves a residue behind to help prevent moisture. Unfortunately, the residue can gum up the internal workings of some items and prevent them from functioning properly. I'm afraid that you are right and that the spring may be damaged. Weather this is from the WD40 or not, I don't know.

Good news though, is there is a group that repairs old toys. Their web site is http://www.thisoldtoy.com/l_fp_set/toy-pages/900-999/995-musicboxrecordplayer.html

Toward the bottom, you can reach them by email and arrange to have this repaired through them.

As a rule of thumb, don't use WD40 if you want it to work next week too. The chemicals in it end up gumming up the inner workings. I've used WD40 as a cleaner when I need to remove rusting. When something requires light oil, a good 3-in1 oil is best.

A bit of trivia for you - WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. Makes you wonder, if they would have gotten it right on the 39th attempt, they would have called it WD-39???

Good luck,
Mark

Hello Kevin,

I am sorry to hear your daughter was hurt and I hope she is going to be ok.

I don't mean this to sound cold or unfeeling, but she was most certainly not in "our" swing.

Fixya is a help and support site where people share their expertise in certain areas to assist others with problems they have already faced.

While many manufacturers refer their customers who are in need of support to this site, the only thing sold here is intellectual property. Services, not goods.

We are not the manufacturer, nor the distributor of any products. Specifically, we are not affiliated with, contracted to, nor do we represent Fisher-Price.

Again, I hope your daughter is well.

Best regards
Mike

How do you play Fisher-Price

Found in a review of the game on Epinions:

"
There are 2 different versions of the game, and it depends on your childs ability on which version you'd want him to play.

One version of the game is each player picks an ice cream sundae bowl (the purple, blue, green or orange bowls), and the 16 plain bowls with ice cream scoops already on them are then dealt out to each player. So if you have 2 players, each player would get 8 of the bowls, if you have 4 players, each player would then only get 4 of the bowls. The player then takes these cards and places them face up in front of him. The 16 cards with just the lone ice cream scoops are put into the tub face down.

One player goes first and scoops the ice cream scoop to see what color it will land on. He then picks out a ice cream scoop card from inside the tub and the object is to see if it matches one of your already made ice cream bowls. If it does, that player yells "Ice Cream" and takes the card and puts it in their bowl. The game ends when there are no more ice cream cards in the tub and the player with the most ice cream cards wins the game.

The other version of the game is almost like the above version except the 16 cards of scoops already in the bowls are dealt face up in front of everyone. When the player takes an ice cream scoop from inside the tub, the first player to see the match of that card yells "Ice Cream" and gets to take the card and put it in his bowl. This version is more advanced since you have to look at 16 cards to find the match instead of just looking at your own cards you were dealt in the beginning of the game."

I would like to purchase

I've found that with toys that aren't sold "on the shelf" any more that the best prices can be found on Ebay. A quick check for "puffalump" shows multiple options available on Ebay selling between $10 - $30 "buy it now", meaning you just purchase it and don't worry about the auction bidding side of Ebay.
