When I turn on my tv it will shut off

Model number is WT-46809?

If set comes on for a moment and then goes off(green power light)

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS BOTH menu AND input at the same time and hold both buttons in for at least 5 seconds---then release both buttons.

Watch the power light---it should blink a two digit code---ERROR CODE---
The most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks-----set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

If you find this error code let me know the blinks and I will tell you what it means and may be able to tell you what is needed to correct it.

What component makes the loud click when you power on certain electronic devices?

the click is the relay which clicks when the set is powered on or off. Your model should store an error code when it shutsdown or wont start up. Have you tried accessing the self diagnosis feature to retreve the error code through the power indicators two digit blink sequence? If so whats the blink code your receiving?

Turns On then immediately turns itself off

Good Day y'all;
First I will tell you what the factory tells us then I will tell you what the problem may be: This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. This model is also known to get fluid on the boards. The fluids come the picture tubes, this helps projection TV's to keep cooler tubes, all companies use this method, but MIT has the biggest concern of the leakage.
Sorry, but hope this was helpful. These TV's can repaired, shields can be provided. Call an authorized service dealer to this repair.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

The TV was working great

When the power light comes on and then goes out, on the front of the set press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will blink a 2 digit error code and repeat it at least 5 times.

The most common error will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks- a pause and then it will repeat it for a total of at least 5 times.

To get it to repeat this--you have to unplug the set, try to turn it on again and repeat the process.

The error codes are to try to narrow down where the problem is.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Post comment here if I can assist you further.

My Mitsubishi WT-46809 has horizontal red, blue and green lines on the screen. Looks like a rainbow. The top of the screen is bowed down in the middle and the bottom is bowed up. Tried to adjust on ad

You have what is a common problem on most of the Mitsubishi sets made at this time. CONVERGENCE.This model uses two of the STK-392-570 convergence chips and if set will not adjust both have to be replaced. You have some options here:1. You can have a shop do the repair--average seems to be now about 250 parts and labor.2. You can buy one of the kits available with general instructions online for around 100 dollars with most of the things you will need.3. I have start to finish, step by step instructions (based on doing this repair in your set hundreds of times) for free--provide a email address for this.In general the middle board has to be carefully removed as all the parts for this are on that board.Soldering is needed as each chip has about 18 pins. You can get a pair of the chips at for example AT Suburban Electronics for under 20 dollars including shipping. They also have some of the other things you might need that are listed with my instructions. There are 3 different ways to get at the parts:Remove the middle board which is what I do.Remove the entire light box in the set---harder.Unbolt and tilt entire chassis up so bottom of the boards face rear of set--hardest and allows possible damage to happen.6_3_2012_3_14_05_pm.jpgparts look like this but are 570 and number is on front. They face the front of the set and are bolted to the very large metal heat sink with fins there.Let me know if need my help.SD TECH

Troublshoot Mitsubishi wt 46809

Fuse will not be bad if green power light comes on and stays on--if it came on and went off there is a self check.Likely issues: if no sound also-----problem is in either power supply or set is in shutdown---has a latch circuit.I have another suggestion based on having worked on hundreds of these sets-----Look first directly under the picture tubes and above the main boards---is there a gray or black plastic tray running under them?Let me know what you have tried etc by pressing the "make a comment button" here-----
