Craftsman 675 Series 190cc 22" Briggs Stratton Rear Bag Front Propelled Lawn Mower () Questions & Answers
What kind of battery does it take
Mowers don't typically take batteries. Possibly riding mowers might, but not push/self propelled mowers. They run off a spark plug and gas and that's it.
Mower can not start
Does it have spark? Does the engine get fuel? If you spray starting fluid into the air filter will it start up?
Engine growing black smoke
Usually this is a sign of oil being in the ignition chamber. Check the oil level, if too high drain and refill to proper level. Also if you have hills or slopes in your yard make sure that you are mowing up and down not across. If you must mow across the slope make sure to do it with the oil to the downward side. Caution if you do this too often the engine will be deprived of oil all together and seize up.
Why doesn't the pull cord wont move
Could be a few things but I would start by taking the spark plug out to reduce the compression. This will make it easier for the engine to turn just to make sure the piston is moving. If it is an older machine you may have rust build up all the way to a seized engine depending on maintance preformed on the mower.
Craftsman service manuals
I'd just take it to a small engine guy and pay the $. They know all the tricks and it will save you a lot of grief.
How to adjust governor
Yes, you can but the speed should be set with a tachometer. Your local dealer can make this adjustment for you.
Where is the oil drain plug
The drain plug on a Briggs and Stratton engine is underneath the deck. Most likely it is concealed by cover for the self propel belt and possibly the blade as well.
The suggested method for draining the oil is to warm up the engine by running the unit for 10 minutes or more, though this should be sufficient time for the engine to have warmed up. Then drain the oil.
An alternate method is to drain the oil out of the oil filler tube. To do this, after the engine is warmed up, tilt the mower onto the side that has the oil filler tube. Put the drain pan under the filler tube, then remove the filler cap. The oil will drain out into the oil drain pan.
CAUTION: The oil that will come out of the engine will be HOT! So be careful when removing the oil filler cap.
I hope this will answer your question. Best of luck in this mowing season.
Craftsman weed trimmer will fire up but dies, what could be the issue
Hi there. Firstly if it's firing but dying it could mean that the air filter is blocked with debris. Try and run it without. If it still dont run make sure the air holes in the fuel cap aren't blocked. If it still wont run then it may be the gaskets on the carb. This is a proffesional job and will need to be done by a service engineer.
