McCulloch FG6000MK 5700Watt 13 HP 338CC Portable Generator - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Slow throttle reponse to load
Your welder is too much for the generator you are using. Usually you need a fairly big generator for welding so it doesn't overload so easily.

Model 338 chain saw, chain too tight needs to be
There is a hole in the brake/clutch cover (that you take off when you change your chain) under the attachment bolts through which a bolt protrudes. Use a small screw driver or the wrench that comes with the saw to turn this bolt (it has a slot in it) to either tighten or loosen the chain.
Hope that helps.

I have a Mcculloch 5700
Take the make and model #s to a lawnmower shop, they can get what you need, if they do not have it in stock. Also remember to check in tank strainer for restriction.

Correct oil for this generator
This all depends on what type of climate you live in. Most small engines that (do not) have an oil filter uses SAE 30 motor oil. This oil has a detergent in it that helps clean your engine.

11 hp 5700 watt generator wont fire
If you could not start in spite of oil and gas change, checked gas supply, spark plug, ignition cables and coils (magnetos) and so on whitout success, then try this:
Your generator has a low oil level protection, which stops the ignition of the motor.
After "a couple of years" sitting without or with old oil, the level switch may have got lazy or stuck down.
If your oil level seems to be good, while measured, find the oil switch and try to shorten or disconnect it.
If you succeed in running the generator change or repair the oil switch.
I hope that this will be helpful, because I don't have your device in front of me, but some people rank such an answer with 2 thumbs, which means useless. Better dont rank.

Starter cord replacement
Here are the basic steps:
Prepair the new starter rope (about 5 feet of good qualty starter rope size 5.5) by burning the end and shaping into a point and tie a temp knot on the other end. Use a rag to shape the end because it will be very hot. Remove the old rope and align the hole in the spool with the hole on the starter cover and practice incerting the rope thru the guide hole on the cover into hole on the spool . This will be the final action after you wind the spool. You should be able to hold the spool and insert the rope thru both holes and tie a knot while holding the spool in a wound state. Once you have mastered incerting the rope thru both holes and tying a knot you are ready. Now begin.
Wind the spool in the same direction that the spool turns when you pull the rope. You must wind in the correct direction or you may bend the spring out of shape. The spool will begin to tighten as you wind and will eventually stop turning when the spring is fully wound. Once fully wound unwind spool one full turn and stop when hole on spool aligns with hole in cover. Now insert rope as practiced thru both holes and tie knot with free hand or have helping hand. Once knot is tied slowly let spool take rope in untill no more will go in or you reach temp knot. Now tie pull handle and you are done. Good luck.
