I'm trying to replace the fuel lines on the primer

The primer is just a small pump--it is supposed to draw fresh fuel through the carburetor and expel it back into the tank. There are also just two lines on the carburetor--the upper one should go straight to the fuel tank and filter, the other goes to the intake side of the pump. Just pick a port of the primer (remove the other line for the moment), and try to pump fuel into the bulb (make sure the bulb is not decayed as well)--it should fill with fuel if you have the correct connection--if not, just place the line from the carburetor on the other primer port and try to pump again. If still no fuel, something is plugged in the carburetor or the fuel filter. Hope this helps!

Motor does not turn sprocket

I am assuming the kickback chain brake is not on. Push it forward to make sure. If the engine revs but the drive sprocket will not turn and the chain is adjusted correctly then the centrifugal clutch is bad or the spring is broken. You will have to take the clutch out to see exactly what has broken.

Mcculloch 280B gas blower has compression, fuel, ignition, won't start

Remove all fuel. Remove spark plug. Dry out the crankcase and cylinder by pulling the starter several times.

Reinstall spark plug. Remove air filter, hold throttle open and spray a short burst (~1sec) of starter fluid down throat of carburetor. Release throttle and promptly pull starter rope up to 5x.

If it fires and runs a few seconds then it is a fuel/carburetor problem.

If still no fire then more likely a spark or compression problem. Replace spark plug with new proper type and gap. Retry with starter fluid. If still no run then likely either a failed ignition module or poor compression/crankcase leak.

Have a mcculloch M3816 chainsaw and cannot figure out how the trigger mechanism activates the throttle in the handle

There is usally a rod that travels under handle to carb. Could be a cable if its a top line saw. If you are having problem with it take top of saw body apart and it should give you access.
