If you take it to an electrician, the issue may well be the suppressor capacitor, across the switch contact, will be short circuit. Get it replaced with a suitable Class Y components and it will be working again. OR thee switch is faulty. Replaceable by a commonly available spare part. Being 15 years old, there is little hope of a spare parts manual but it is a very basic design and should be easily repaired by a competent engineer.

I did find a manual for the 6715 model and although it has a parts list, it has no wiring diagram. It should have live, return and ground going in and a pair of wires to the motor and a pair of wires to the light. An electrician in a machine shop or tool repair shop would know. Simple use the set screw that positions the Lazer until it lines back up with you blade. When you remove the Lazer you have to remove the set screw. If it's not put back in the same position, then it will not be in line with you blade.

Not all tools and appliances have a reset button, those that do, the button is usually obvious. These days the reset button is mostly found on electronic equipment - small computers and suchlike. With pure electrical equipment the thermal breaker trips in the case of overheating and mostly self-resets after cooling.

Contact the manufacturer and ask them to send you an exploded parts diagram and parts list. Unless you are particularly fortunate you will find the saw is of generic manufacture that has been label engineered without much of a spares service, if any. You will probably find it quicker and more convenient, perhaps even necessary, to either repair the existing handle or fabricate a new one.
