Hi misterqm,
- From from you have mentioned, I understand that that there has been a fault in your printer's software programming , this is usual for such "contact service" errors, this error not just come up in printer , but also in mobile phones and other such electronic devices.
- I would recommend you to take the printer to the authorized service center so that they can repair it for free if it's under warranty or guarantee , or they may replace this as a defective production.
- Please make sure you don't open up any seals on the which exist on the printer to not void warranty , in case it's still under warranty.
- If it's not under warranty , then you should take it to the kyocera service center so that they can re-install the software in your printer for you.
Hope this helps ... :) Your feedback would be appreciated.

It could be a fuser, drum, developer, or transport belt problem among other things. The FS-C5016N is an old model color printer and if the maintenance kit has not been replaced it probably should be. THe maintenance kit contains the items above along with a few others.

This will either be the fusor or the image drum.
The fusor is just the heating unit that melts the plastic toner onto the paper. If this is going out then the printed edge that is fading out should be rough or even dusty. You should be able to rub off some of the print. If thats the case then this needs to be replaced.
If the print is normal (ie it all sticks and isn't dusty) then it is being caused by the image drum. That is going to be real expensive to replace compared to the toners.
The last thing that I can think of that causes this is that the toner is not even in the cartridges. Usually you only get this if the toner clumps or you have printed a lot along that side or the printer has been bumped or knocked. You can fix this one if there is enough toner by taking the carts out giving them a side to side shake to even out the toner and put them back in. Just make sure to keep them level as much as you can. The toner is a real fine powder than can flow or move.
I have a kyocera fs-c5016n brought it home from
The display just indicates the default interface. If you have everything connected properly and send a print job to the printer it will automatically switch and print out. The default interface can be changed but there is no need to for your application.
