My Kenmore elite diswasher of 5 years seems to be dead. no light, nothing starts. power to unit is good. is there a relay or fuse to check in the door panel
The dishwasher should have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board behind the operator console. It is a small silver colored device
attached to a white plactic bracket. In some model dishwashers the
wrong gage wiring was used causing the wires to heat up and trip the
thermal fuse. There was no apparent risk of fire or anything like that,
but the thermal fuses didn't tolerate the heat differential too well. A
fix for the problem was to purchase a thermal fuse replacement kit
(found at most appliance repair stores) that had thicker wires. The
part number for the thermal fuse kit is 959376 and the price is $16.85. You can find it at
repairclinic.com. Order on line and have the part shipped directly to
you. Now...to access the control board perform the following:
1. Turn off the main breaker to the dishwasher. This is important. Even
though the dishwasher is not running, the control board still has live
voltages present.
2. Open dishwasher door and remove the top screws that hold the console
in place. You shouldn't have to remove the lower screws unless you plan
on removing the entire door panel.
3. The control panel should pull off from the front enough to where you
can access the control board. There is a thermal fuse mounted on the
board with two wire leads going to it. The fuse is silver in color and
mounted to a plastic bracket which is mounted to the control board.
4. Cut the wires on the old fuse and splice the new fuse kit to it.
Leave plenty of wire to accommodate. There will be instructions included
with your replacement kit. Ensure you follow the direction thoroughly
and tighten the wire lug screws securely.
NOTE: Do not attempt to reuse the existing wires by simply unplugging
the old fuse and replacing it with the new one (been there). The fuse
will eventually blow again. Follow the instructions provided and you
can't go wrong.
If you have any further quesitons, or if you run into trouble during your repairs, let me know. Good luck to you.
PS If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number I provided you to any major appliance repair shop and they SHOULD have the part available. This is a known problem and a common fail item.

When washing the arms arn't spraying water leaving the dishes dirty.
Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper broke or food chopper filter screen clogged.
Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.
Inspect food chopper:
1. Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm.
2. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover.
3. Remove primary filter
4. Remove food chopper cover to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage or blockage.
If you need further assistance, let me know

I found a part with the following code on it: 5600 037 096 and PP-TV20 inside my dishwasher. I don't know where to put it. Can you help me?
I have a Bosch dishwasher with the same "mystery" part. According to my manual, this part is an Extra Tall Item Sprinkler (select models). Apparently, if you are loading in extra tall items, you take out the top rack and insert this part into the top rack spray outlet (located a the back of the dishwasher). Turn it clockwise to lock it into position. Put your extra tall items in the bottom rack. Hope this helps!

I'm trying to find a replacement for the dish racks in my dishwasher. I've had it for about 8 years and it still runs very well, but the tines are rusting underneath the vinyl and breaking off. Can anyone tell me a place where I can order these parts? Thanks for you help
www.Repairclinic.com is a great place to look. But from past experienc, dishwasher racks are very expensive and almost 1/2 the cost of a new one. Good luck.

Even after rinsing glasses and dishes before loading into the dishwasher, at the end of the wash cycle there are particles of food left on the dishes and in the glasses. Seems like there must be food particles clogging the drain? But the water drains out of the dishwasher without a problem. I've tried the vinegar solution but that didn't help. How are food particles supposed to exit the dishwasher and is there a chance that they are stuck in the washer?
If someone is putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams that would cause food to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets make sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.
