The only thing I can think to do would be to turn on the camera and access your settings. Probably check under your power settings or something comparable to it and make sure there is no setting turned on that would allow the camera to turn on with motion.

Shutter will not close on canon hf s10

I'm assuming you mean the lens blinds on the front of the camera. The lens cover mechanism in these cameras is susceptible to debris and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

The lens cover does not

You have a problem with your lens barrier unit. Sometimes, it can be repaired but sometimes that part needs to be replaced. This repair should be done by an experienced technician. The only easy thing that you can try is to unplug the camcorder from any type of power source, let it sit for about 10 minutes and try again. There should also be a reset button (most of the time it is on the side case where the LCD fits against the camcorder). You can try pushing the reset button and see if that makes a difference. Where is the serial number?

Open the LCD, and you should see a "Batt Release" lever on the body. Slide this lever to the front and remove the battery from the rear of the camera (it slides down). The serial number is a ten or twelve digit number on a plate beneath the battery.
