When I use card stock on my Xerox 6180 printer the toner doesn't always stick to the paper
1 You need to make sure the weight of the media is within the limits set by the manufacturer. You can probably get away with a bit heavier, but not much heavier.2 You need to make sure that you choose the correct media/paper type in the printer driver. The thicker the media, the longer it takes for the heat to 'soak' through to the toner side. choosing the correct media type slows the transport through the fuser (or increases the temperature - depending on the printer type - so that correct fusing can take place.3 Excessive moisture content can cause fusing issues like this.4 Remanufactured, or 'compatible' toner cartridges that have the WRONG or poor quality toner powder also cause fusing problems that can even bee seen on 80gsm paper, but will be obvious on thicker media. There ARE good remanufactured toner cartridges, but if a toner cartridge is very cheap, it ;s LIKELY to have poor toner powder in it (the correct toner powders are 2-3 times more expensive than the cheap stuff).5 Finally it IS always possible that the fuser just isn't getting up to temperature properly. This can be caused by a failed heat lamp - with age the can blacken in patches, 'holding back' the heat.
