  • Does Your machine have a little switch button activated by the top door? (You can hear it click as you open and close the door.). If that switch is not working, the control click can not let the machine advance to the next step in the cycle.

if you have a regular top load direct drive washer and if the tub is tilted off balance remove the frame of the washer,look at the back bottom of the frame,there's a spring that is connected to the bottom of the frame and hooks the the back of the tub,sometimes the frame rusts out and the spring rips through the drill hole in the frame,you have to drill a new hole in the frame and reconnect the spring.i've never seen a balance ring damaged.so this is the first thing i would check if washer is off balance.

This is almost always caused by a bad time. The solution is to replace the timer. What happens is the timer has a small motor on it that turns the timer, if the motor burns out or the timer gears wear the timer doesn't advance like it should.

you need to get a putty knife and slide it under the control panel,there are two clips that hold it down,one on the right side and one on the left side.watch this video and what are you fixing if you don't mind me asking if i can be of any other help let me know.

you push the timer in and turn it to the setting you want,when you pull the timer knob out the washer should run

usually direct drive if top load,no belt has a motor coupling,send model number so i can look up your model,sears kenmore doesn't make washers,they just put the name on it,say washer starts with 110. on model,then you know whirlpool made it.
