Kenmore 94812 Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer Questions & Answers
Hello.. I have a 220v stack washer and dryer unit. I live in hawaii and never use the dryer and electricity here is at a premium. I would like to run just the washer on 110 and disconnect the dryer an
Hello Troy, I have checked the schematic which should be located behind the sloping front panel above the washer lid. The washer portion is powered by 110 vac supplied from the dryer's L1 connection (black) and the neutral (white). It should be quite simple to make an adapter with "hardware store" parts like a standard 20 amp plug and an appropriate 220 volt receptical. Please verify that the neutral lead goes to chassis ground and make use of the 110 plug's ground to the receptacal ground (green headed screws) with a seperate lead, for your safety. When the machine is plugged into the adapter, only the washer should function.
As a final note, I see that the dryer motor and timer are also 110 volt but are connected from the other hot lead, L2, to neutral. Only the heater is powered by 220 vac. Therefore if you should connect to L2 by mistake, only the dryer drum would operate. Unfortunately, I do not see a simple way to make both the washer and dryer run on a single 110 feed.
In any wash cycle, the water will keep on filling
This is commonly caused by a pressure switch malfunction. The pressure switch is located behind the load level selector knob on the front panel. Before assuming the switch to be bad, however, check to make sure the small air hose that runs to the switch is still connected. As the wash tub fills, the pressure switch senses the pressure differential through the air hose. As the water level gets to the appropriate level, the switch cuts off the water flow. If the air hose comes loose, or is leaking anywhere, the switch will not function properly and will not shut off - causing the washer to overflow.
My advice to you is to UNPLUG the washer and remove the control panel and check the air hose. Make sure it is connected securely to the pressure switch. Next, follow the entire length of the hose looking for any splits, rips, cracks or tears. I most cases, the hose is the problem. If the hose is intact, you will need to replace the pressure switch.

Dryer won't spin on my kenmore stacked model 417.90812991
This is the 2nd time I have this problem.
IF you look thry the drum to the back you should see 3 screw heads. Mine has one screw still in the hole and 2 empty holes.
This requires the drum to be removed (like take the drier apart). Behind the drum is Asmbly-shaft (ball hitch) (item 32 in the parts list). This what the 3 screws screw into.
I spent 2 days trying to put the screws in without removing the drum not possible (no way to hold the drum in place)
The first time I had to replace the drum because it wore the rim through.
I have to get 3 new screws and some thread locker.
I recommend that you check the screws every month, Use a long phillips screw drive
DOES NOT DRAIN WATER
If motor runs or sounds like it is trying to run, you have a sock caught in the pump. If no noise at all you have a bad lid switch
Water keeps flowing - will not fill
It sounds like you have a siphoning problem. Double check to make sure you don't have the drain hose shoved down in the standpipe too far. 4 to 6 inches is sufficient enough when placing your drain hose into the standpipe. There needs to be an air gap in order for the washer to drain properly and to prevent the water from continually siphoning from the wash tub. DO NOT seal the top of the standpipe, either. Some people will do this thinking that it will help prevent overflows and/or get rid of any drain odors. It can actually cause problems. The standpipe should also be 2 inches in diameter, be a minimum of 34” from the floor, and should not exceed 72 inches in height. Post back if this is not the case and I will try to lead you in the right direction. I do hope this solves your problem.
Washer will not fill
Check your inlet hose from the wall socket, it could be clogged with something. Look also at the machine hose. First turn off the wall hose, and keep a bucket ready.
