Well if you are sure the computer is running, then you could have a bad inverter, take a flashlight and shine it on the screen, if you see the icons and computer booting, then you have a bad inverter, go on amazon and order another LCD. also if you have a desk top monitor, connect the monitor to your laptop, then boot up your laptop, hold down the "FN" (function) button and press "F4", you should see everything on your desktop monitor. Yes and no, Yes because XP is an upgrade from windows vista Now!, but not today, because of marketing reasons, they are pulling support from XP, and you will have big problems registering you product code. Not to mention, they are not providing updates for XP anymore. There are ways to register your product code into your motherboard yourself but that's beyond my skill set.
